The scenery in this movie is stunning and it basically sums up my dream life in a beautiful all Art Nouveau furnished style house.

SO effin' good. I didn't even know it was the end of the movie till it came. I just SOOO wanted to keep it going, and going, and going. Michelle Pfeiffer's acting is testament to her flawless talent. The acting, so subtle and yet so palpable. And the character development just flowed seamlessly, with the narrator who was HILARIOUS. ^_^

The ending felt way too sudden for me. I wanted it to keep going, too. I saw this in the theater, and I still think about it.

This is the third version of Colette's literary masterpiece that has been made on film. The first was in 1950 starring Jean Desailly, Marcelle Chantal, Jane Marken. The second was in 1962 Jean-Claude Brialy, Madeleine Robinson and Denise Grey. Sadly I have yet to find copies of these but if anyone ever finds a copy I hope they upload them to the public so we compare. I love this version.

I cannot believe the negative comments Michelle Pfeiffer from some women who claimed women in their 50s do not look like her. Michelle is phenomenal and looks stunning and so does her character Lea. It is not the story of ordinary women, it is a story of elite sex workers who knew what they are and what it implied in their lives. I love how Charlotte (Kathy Bates) represents the retired courtesan who lives in sort of shade of her glory, she wears outdated fashion and lives in a maximalist Victorian era mansion and even plans to have grandchildren because she accepts her days of her own adventure are over while Lea represents modern Art Nouveau, Belle Epoche in her spirit, behavior and style, she still attracts men throughout the movie who are much younger than her. The real tragedy is that Lea understands she will not be able to keep up as her body and mind start to shift towards 'old age' yet her heart yearns for love.

Does anyone know the name of the musical piece/es playing here? The music is absolutely stunning ! It gives me chills! Best trailer music ever!
@isembemusic Жыл бұрын
@ivartheboneless Hi there Ivar. The songs you just heard are actually selections from classical by Jean Fery Rebel and Jean-Francois Rameau. The first one is 'Bouree From Les Plaisirs Champetres' The second one is 'Overture from Nais, Overture from Achante et Cephise ou La Sympathie' They were also featured on the soundtrack to the movie, 'Casanova'. Hope this helps.

I wonder sometimes whether or not anyone genuinely believed that any of Colette's book could possibly have been written or even partially written by a man - meaning that dreadful husband of hers who forced into sharing credit for her work with him.
