Half Life was NEVER about the budget or the graphics. Both HL games bring a major shift in gaming innovation and new genres. Thats why HL: Alyx was made in VR. I'm not gatekeeping, but Half Life 3 could hypothetically be a disappointing game if doesn't bring at a table something that other AAA companies will copypaste for the next decade.

Let me give you a fun fact. Chernobyl’s RBMK 1000 graphite moderated reactor, about 2.5 yrs old, exploded at 1:23:45 AM. This is known as the night of the disaster; Chernobyl. The power plant in Ukraine was running a test for the flywheel effect of the turbines, and if they could work long enough, even if the reactor shut down, to then power the emergency diesel generators. These turbines were mainly run by steam. Steam was one of the contributors to this massive reaction. A second contributor was xenon gas. You see, xenon has is a string neutron poison. This poison is caused by the boron section of the control rods. The reactor was running at half power for most of the day, and the boron was half inserted, causing the reactor to be xenon poisoned. So when the control rods were immediately inserted by A-Z5 (SCRAM) it generated a quick power surge. This surge generated steam. The steam caused immense pressure, which then lifted the rods and fuel caps, each weighing 350 kg. Then, the unit building could hold no more. It exploded, and the reactor lid went flying, landing back on the same position sideways. Then, the superheated graphite and hydrogen created a second explosion, scattering lethal doses of radioactive particles. Respect to all those at Chernobyl who lost their lives while working. Hoping no nuclear fission disasters like Chernobyl and Fukushima ever happen again.

@@fbiagentmiyakohoshino8223 Well, when desktop computers appeared on the market (1982), I fell of my chair. I was 0nly 37. At the height of everything; mental, intellectual, and physical, sexual, job, everything, so I immediately bought one. you only worked with it because games then where for kids. Then 'Half-Life appeared and I said 'now that makes sense'. 'Realistic' gaming had started and I never looked back. Don't be surprised a 75 years old is on KZbin. You don't know that yet but at any age, one feels like 20 in his head; it's only the body that ages and betrays you. Since I did travel around the World a few times, I'm not interested to do it anymore but here, it's the whole World that parades on my screen and what's more, I can event comment on it for anybody to see and even reach the author of what I see and I don't have to leave my chair. To end this diatribe, I'm sure there are millions of us here (geezers). EDIT: Don't ever talk to one of us anymore, we'll talk you to death...

"Is that the sound of a Geiger Counter or my lifespan counting down? It's both! That's right, here at Chernobyl, when we talk about half-life, we mean it in more ways than one. (blasts headcrab zombie with shotgun) Here you'll win a chance to fight freaks of nature, escape countless safety hazards, wander aimlessly for hours, and die scared, tired, and alone."
