Will a 1988-1998 Chevrolet 1500 fleetside rear bumper fit a stepside

So I got a bumper and realized it was for a step side bed but I have a fleet side and when i put it in it is just all crooked and I don’t know if it’s the bumper being different or an issue with the mounts
