wassup guys i am free from the depths of hell. xpen have kindly sent me their artist 16 2nd gen display tablet to review for today! i thought i'd both do an unboxing and a speedpaint after a long time, i hope you guys enjoyed :,D. all my thoughts and opinions are my own on the product!

this is very cool to watch! if i had the money i would totally buy a drawing tablet as i have been meaning to get more into digital art. i love watching your process- its very cool to see how you keep going, adding deatils, extra highlights and shadows and color funkiness way after i would have given up, lol. good on you! im glad ur exams r over and hope things are less stressful! :D

Your coloring is amazing, i’m always in awe when i see it. I’d love to see a tutorial on color theory/how you choose colors and why. Because the way you choose such different colors as shadow/lights but it FITS is amazing. I think you touched briefly on it on your hair tutorial video but I’d be grateful for a more in-depth video :D

what i've heard from other artist friends, they recommend huion kanvas and other xp-pen products if you're looking for screen tablets (quality is decent and prices are much more competitive in comparison to bigger brands like wacom). personally, as a beginner and if you want to use a non-screen tablet, i would say the wacom intuos is great. i started off with that tablet and it lasted me 4 years before i decided to switch, but i had never run into difficulties with it and would've kept using if i didn't upgrade on a personal preference alone!

I’m wondering if I should get the 16 or the 16.5 as there is currently a 20 pound difference and it’s a bit larger. Is it worth the extra 20?

I found the 16 almost too big already for my desk but mines pretty small comparatively. I think if it’s only 20 it’s probably worth it, but the 16 itself is large enough imo 🙏

Hey, i would like to ask you about something, Is it normal for a graphic tablet's active area to be physically smoother or has a different feel than the rest of the surface? i'm using intuos small and not using the whole surface, thanks in advance!

yes it is! it’s basically only allowing you to draw in that area. the active area is probably made up of a bunch of sensors of some sort that allow it to be drawn on whilst the rest is just for framing.

@@inozuart no what i meant is the physical surface looks and feels different than the rest of the tablet, and it's also visible on the tablet under the light, i'm sorry if it's a dumb question but i tried searching a lot online and no one talks about it 😅, i added a picture on my channel's banner, those 2 squares were my active area

@@cantpickausername it just looks like it’s worn over the years then? my old intuos looked like that in the middle from constant use so it became polished from the pen. If it’s a new tablet then that’s definitely a defective model
