As a dv survivor this song hits hard but it’s accurate for when I was in too deep and didn’t see a way out. I’m almost a year free but the memories still haunt me everyday and I’m working through them in therapy. I’m grateful that my friends didn’t give up on me and one of them introduced me to my now wonderful and loving boyfriend who I’m super happy with and he’s so gentle and patient with me and I love him

The song is meant to delve into the headspace of the abused child. I have known many domestic violence victims. Sometimes when you don't know any other love, you accept and expect even toxic love. It's so bad Sometimes when you extend a branch to them, they fear it as an attack. This is a hard song to listen to for me. I am not a victims of domestic violence but I have been too close to many that have.

Eddie was severely abused as a child/young man and I was going through the same thing (except I'm a girl) when they started putting out music. This is a beautiful cover. ❤ And your voice is crazy ethereal. I've seen some of your reels on FB and I feel like you would do a really haunting arrangement of "Ili-ili, Tulog Anay". It's a lullaby from the Philippines and although the lyrics are basically just sung by a babysitter to a child that refuses to go down for a nap while their mother has gone out to buy bread, the melody is spooky. The lullaby was used in a local horror movie and I think ever since, people have been spooked out by the song.
