That bridge is absolutely impressive. It is a great project on its own right. Congratullations on the achievement.

@@CheshireLines The road bridge was built in 1962, and the ferry was the only way to get the ambulance from Cornwall to Plymouth hospital; just a few delays and..... 100 years after Brunel completed the bridge :) Lovely model and x2!

I would love a flat pack version so that i could assemble it at home. Great work.

You are absolutely right Keith or. . . . did the ancients mark King Arthurs resting place in this way. . . . ;-)

Wow! That’s a magnificent sight and a model engineering achievement, I’ve always wanted to kit bash my suspension bridge to look like Albert bridge but didn’t know where to start to building the components, have you thought about selling the parts ? Cheers Darrell
@CheshireLines3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Darrell (again !) Selling the parts would be an interesting idea - perhaps in the future :-)

@@CheshireLines I’d definitely be first in the queue for an order if you did decide to make the parts available in the future, cheers Darrell

Very impressive. Great idea to print it, I too love bridges, but I have a resin printer, so would have to make it very modular.

Excellent. But don't forget the 15mph speed limit...and gw King's weren't allowed over it until more recent years.

Would you charge to make another?

I know this is going to sound picky, but you need to slow the trains down on the bridges. They have speed restrictions in real life.

My next questions have been answered. I see how you have adapted the Hornby Suspension Bridge but where did you get the engineering drawings to enable you to design and build this fantastic looking bridge? I am guessing you are a Draughtsman, engineer, architect or maybe a boffin ? I have a Monoprice filament printer but have never dreamt of printing something of this magnitude. Congratulations. 👍❤️🖊📐
@CheshireLines2 жыл бұрын
Hi Charlie, I'll take 'Boffin' ! as none of the others apply - just an enthusiastic amateur ! I studied photos of the bridge, but the constraints I had to work to was the length of the door way gap and the length of the Hornby bridge - I then used Sketchup to design the arches and cross braces so I could print them. I also have a resin printer to do the small details you see such as the Lion bridge guardians at either end. I appreciate your comments - thank you :-). Chris.

I have two of the Hornby grand suspension bridges. How much would you charge to supply the parts to turn them into the Royal Albert bridge? I would prefer to keep the bridge as the standard 4’6” model that Hornby provide, unless the ones you have produced already are shorter or scale length. I have subscribed to your channel and have opted for all notifications. I came via your video on building a viaduct.

Chris, I love to hear innovative stories like this about people stepping up to design challenges and using the latest technology(which you get top marks for) to “Build” something new. Love it. 👍🖊📐💥
