I'm almost positive the wizard is voiced by Charles Martinet. The same company did Mario's FUNdamentals at the same time, and even the wizard's design bears a strong resemblance to the Mario Bros.

This game was great. Helped me really learn and improve my chess skills. Still have the game at home. It would only play in Win XP and below though so have to use an older computer.

I remember this game, but I wouldn't mind seeing what, if anything, Wigby has to say about the following alternative moves: Fork example 2 - Nf7 Fork puzzle 7 - 1.Nf6 Pin example 2 - Moving anything other than the rook Pin example 3 - Nf6+ Pin puzzle 5 - Qc3 Pin puzzle 7 - Qxf3 Skewer example 1 - Bg3 Skewer example 2 - Bg4 Skewer puzzle 4 - Qe4, Qd1, or Qd3 Skewer puzzle 5 - 1.Bg2 Skewer puzzle 6 - 1.Rd6 Skewer puzzle 7 - 1.Rg7 Removing the Guard puzzle 2 - 1.Rxe5 Removing the Guard puzzle 5 - 1.Qxe7 Removing the Guard puzzle 6 - 2.Rxb3 Removing the Guard puzzle 7 - 1.Re1 (or moving the queen to the e file) Removing the Guard puzzle 8 - 1.Qxh8 Discovery puzzle 3 - Bg2 Discovery puzzle 6 - Nh6 (or to the e file) Discovery puzzle 7 - 1.Bd6 (or any other bishop move made first) Discovery puzzle 8 - 2.Ng3+ Double Check puzzle 4 - 1.Nd6+, 2.Nd7+ (following 1.Nc5+) Double Check puzzle 5 - 1.Rxf8+, 2.Rh7+ (following 1.Rg7+) Checkmate puzzle 10 - Nxb8 Also: Pin puzzle 6 - Strictly speaking, Gray should capture the knight with the bishop, right? Pin puzzle 8 - Wouldn't Red be better off to move the queen or king and give up the rook? Skewer puzzle 5 - Would a rational Red player actually capture the knight? Skewer puzzle 7 - If I were Red, I would move the king, and then capture the pawn on the next move. Removing the Guard puzzle 8 - Red probably shouldn't capture the queen (Reh7, perhaps?). Discovery puzzle 7 - Red would have been better off to move the king to the sixth rank instead of capturing the rook. Also, 2.Kf7 allowed the king and rook to be forked on the next move. The only other option is Ke8, but that's still better. Discovery puzzle 8 - It may look like Red blundered into the check and discovery, but the king's only other option was h7, which would also have allowed the knight to check. Double Check example - Wigby also accepts Nd6, and gives a different explanation.

you can find the ISO from archive org, or buy the original CD from a seller on ebay, I got one a few years ago. But you'll need old windows to play it.
