Simple answer. They had about 1.3 billion people to turn into strong chess players. No surprise they have a few in this modern age. Per head of population they are probably no stronger than any other nation.

Dumbest logic ever. This is the first time India has won the Olympiad apart from the online one. Atleast Indians won for India unlike USA which imports foreign players.

Let's talk about USA, which has 1/3 to 1/4th the population of India, has had more per capita income than India at it's peak in the past 2 centuries(which is right now) for more than 2 centuries, and continuously. And yet not a single ethnic uk guy in the team which clearly makes the majority population, and the entire team made up of 2nd generation immigrants. I think you'd have to cope much harder than right now in the coming years. The west is in a downfall and has Little redemption now that it stare's at it's end.

@FriendlyVimanam Imagine Magnus Messi and Djokovic changed nationality to India. We can say we have the best chess, football and tennis players of all time. This is exactly what USA, UK and rest of Europe does.
