I took a break from playing chess for about two months since I was busy, but now I have some time to play again. I've realized that my rating isn't increasing, and most of my opponents are playing at a really high level-they're not even blundering a pawn, and they see through all the tricks I have. I used to be very confident that with just two days of playing, I could increase my Elo by a hundred, but not nowadays. Maybe I should just give up playing the Taimanov and go back to the good old Stonewall, which was the first real opening I learned.

This shows how useless the chessable courses are for most players. I play this line against ponziani, and be3 is far more common at 1400 than capturing the knight, but not a single mention.

Is it because it’s a dubious move? I don’t use chessable (or watch the chessable bits of the vids) but maybe it doesn’t tell you how to capitalise on questionable lines?

Yeah, i play 1.c4, and at some point, black should retreat the knight from d5 to f6 or b6 and it only accrued in my games once out thousands of game

Everyone learns differently. Chessable works for some players, not so much for others. We’re lucky to have so many online options!

25:33 - 26:30 the minute long bait was beautiful. Sometimes you're already in their heads, but this time you literally inception-ed them into coming up with the idea themselves 😂

Great username! That word can be shortened to many variations with all of them meaning hello; Njetjeta, Tjeta, Tung. Njateta means hello, Tjeta means hi and bye. Tungjatjeta is very archaic though an its literal translation is "May you live a long life". (j is pronounced as y)

I played e4 since I began playing but recently I've been playing everything else. Big thumbs up for choosing the Jobava for white. I wish I started with it.

There’s a great opening trap against the Jo bava when people play the kings Indian. I’m not sure why aman didn’t play it but I’ve played numerous 1500 that still blunder that opening into a rook mate on the bank rank. That game was the perfect game to play it too.

I like taking on e5 with the bishop instead of the pawn, so when they capture the bishop with their knight and you take with knight with pawn, their other knight has to move. Then you can “sack” the queen on d5 and win it back with the knight fork. Man I should really learn notation.

At 37:00 I'm wondering why he didn't play rh8+? Blacks only legal move is Kg7 which hands a free queen. Bare with me, I'm probably only like 800 elo or something and I'm not very good at using the analysis board/engine recommendations but I believe the engine likes rh8+ qg7 rxd8 bxd8 bxf5 and it continues with white having so much more material

A bit of being flashy but also aman was looking for quick check mate, rather than just material gain i believe the point of taking the knight is to open up the bishops diagonal to h7, where aman saw that Rf7+, Bh7+ then Nf4 Ng6+ is a pretty strong checkmate threat, but the engine might find some crazy defense, hence it prefers Rh8+
