Magnus Carlsen (DrDrunkenstein) goes 100% berserk in a Bullet Shield Arena

World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen (DrDrunkenstein) late joined the 4-hour Bullet Shield Arena chess tournament held on lichess.org. When you berserk, your beginning time gets cut in half, and you get an additional tournament point should you win your game. Unlike the Titled Arenas Magnus has competed in in the past, any player could simply join this particular tournament and have a chance to compete against the World Champion, which is really a pretty cool thing. Carlsen competed for nearly the final 90 minutes of the tournament, and I provided commentary on the 50+ games he ended up playing.
I'm a self-taught National Master in chess out of Pennsylvania, USA who was introduced to the game by my father in 1988 at the age of 8. The purpose of this channel is to share my knowledge of chess to help others improve their game. I enjoy continuing to improve my understanding of this great game, albeit slowly. i am about 1500. and one i played rapid game. after my oponents move. i saw in one second a combination of 4 moves. at that place i knew he played mitak. so i took cover piece with queen. he cannot take because of folowing mate. which he finnaly noticed. so i had one piece more. The point system is always giving points! It's only when your rating has passed .5 it will be rounded up. For example. You beat 3 x a 1500 player. 2999.40 --> 2999 2999.45 --> 2999 2999.50 --> 3000 So only in this beat you gained (visible) rating. So you gain rating points with each game but sometimes you gain an amount less than 1 when there are big rating differences. I'm just not sure how lichess rounds ratings! Maybe it rounds up after .5, but maybe it floors all numbers to their integer value.

Carlsen has an amazing tactical vision. This video is a great resource for demonstration how advantage is cashed out. But he’s also a human. 40 minutes into the video it became apparent that he’s either got tired or was constantly distracted.
