Never a better breakdown for the carry methods - EXCELLENT points! Too many people trying to do EVERYTHING with chest rigs. I roll with LBE but very open on the front for several reasons: release of heat build up and dirt diving/crawling. It's also much easier with LBE to climb over stuff, hump the hills, take more stuff with you and all while NOT looking like a Ninja Turtle!

Former Mech infantry grunt here I used a british style PLCE/webbing kit with a few extra pouches on the back, and a slick PC. I just took the off when I got in the back or while I was crewing, and just threw it on when I got out. That allowed me to get further use and familiarity with just one kit, instead of having multiple different setups. It was just as quick as throwing on a backpack, but could also fit in more places and carry more stuff than one

@@samrussell0331 Humvees and Bradleys. No matter the mission, we had to have at minimum MOPP gear in a bag with us, so it wasn't like I was the only one with a pack on my lab. Since I had a back panel and extra pouches all the stuff that would have been in my backpack (MOPP/CBRN gear, CW/WW, water/mres, links, etc), like everyone else carried, was able to fit in my webbing. Difference being, without the bulky shape I was able to stash it under my seat or in the rack behind me, and was still able to grab and go without slowing down the element.

Very well executed and explained.......... Too many people want to look macho, but have no clue to the actual weight and the long hours on patrols that after years and months will take a toll on your lower back. If you go to the range just to " look at me" and not use the equipment, you are going to learn a very life changing event if you have to use the equipment that you do not know how to properly. This video has explained the use very well, and I commend and thank you for doin so. Salute

I’m of the mindset that it’s actually to have all, or at least some variation of these. This way you have setups that are mission specific. Same with your firearms. I don’t have just one general purpose setup. I have multiple setups in multiple calibers to cover a vast range of scenarios that i may encounter. Being over prepared, is being prepared, in my book. I have two TAPS kits and two plate carrier setups. I still have my LC2 setup. I think if you are wanting to have kit for just in case. Having something whether it's optimal for vehicle operations or whatever is secondary to just having something.

It's hard to find a quality mesh vest with a heavy duty zippered front but that's what I like best because the weight is distributed evenly and everything is held close to the body, can still go prone. The one I have has 4 sewn on mag pouches with velcro closures that hold 1 or 2 AR mags each. It has a big velcro square bottom front where you can choose to attach either 2 more mag pouches or a pistol holster. It has 2 small pouches left and right and 3 pistol mag pouches chest high. It has 2 big inside zippered pouches, 3 molle strips across the back to attach whatever and an attached pistol belt if you want to attach other stuff

I like vests too. Ever looked at an FLC (Fighting Load Carrier)? Military issue - mesh, covered with MOLLE, heavy duty zipper and fully adjustable. It does not have a method to attach a belt though. The LBV-88 Enhanced is heavier and has sewn on mag pouches, heavy duty shoulder pads and loop snaps for attaching a web belt. The FLC is more adaptable but again - no belt.

If I'm not doing anything thats DA, or doesnt have a system of sustainment for recon or urban settings, I'm picking the LBE. Plate carrier for DA. Chest rig for those small, shorter, ops where I have things to sustain me in my envionrment without the need to carry them. Chest rigs can have a great application for those low vis urban applications ESPECIALLY in conjunction to a low vis plate system should you need any armor.

LBE carry’s fighting load, squad ammo, Ifak, water, Food and minimal shelter, while providing excellent ventilation and low center of gravity. And if worn low an Assault pack or larger pack can be worn. I will never be in a military vehicle as a civilian, The LBE is easy to don and doff. True the range with the 4 mags switching mags as fast as possible is not the most important training. it's just the most easy and cool in today's firearms movement . In America SHTF unless someone has taken your family member its not about room clearing smooth & fast assaults. (Not a bad skill to have) Thats the last scenario you need to be in. Probably not even defending your home but moving staying alive and fighting only when you have to. Like this gentleman says seek more training 😊

The chest rig shoukd be worn with a large pack when making long movements. The belt kit is for up to 48hrs in a warm climate, 24hrs in a cold environment. That ALICE gear, especially the large ruck, is the reason why so many old grunts have wrecked backs. L5S1... right where that damned kidney pad hits.

@samrussell0331 We used to lengthen our H-harness suspenders with paracord to get the pistol belt of the LBE riding right on your backside to be able to hump that ruck. It totally sucked. Back in the last century, in my squads, we carried one poncho liner for every 2 men to cut down on butt pack space to live out of the LBE longer in warm weather. There were small non-issuel assault-pack sized ALICE packs from Korea with 3 outer pockets big enough for a 1QT canteen. LBE with that small no-frame pack was a great set up... as great as it could be being built on that nylon pistol belt foundation.

@@brotherbrovet1881 I think you already saw in another video that I’ve got the Eberlestock Bandit to wear with LBE. I’ll probably get a slightly larger pack sometime.

@samrussell0331 I got a great deal on a Mystery Ranch 2-day assault pack. I got it in USFS Ranger Green so it's subdued without screaming "tactical". It's become my everywhere bag.

It's all needs based - duh. Combining chest rigs with belt and rucks is probably best for most folks,

I became old, sick and blind. All my gear is for someone who is none of those things. Maybe I can do a video on "Old Dudes" gear... 1. Cane 2. Powerful Magnifying Glass 3. 12ga with short barrel and big red dot, etc. also "Watch them old folks, they are cunning and dangerous..."
