As a child can not give a name to his father, the Greek couldn't also give a name to the Ethiopians. In classical Greek the word that is referred as: Aethiopia derived from the word: "Aethiops". The root words are supposed to be: Aitho & Ops/Opsis. Aitho is supposed to translated as "sunburned, I burn" while Ops is supposed to translate as "face"; which together should give as a derivation "sunburnt face" Is this really true? Does it pass our scrutiny? The answer is a firm NO! why? The word "Aitho", does not discribe SUN and burning due to the cause of SUN. Thus the word that describes the sun in Greek is "Hello". And "Melano" is the closest word that it should have been used in replace of darkness. So, to make it clear about the original word of Ethiopia and it's meaning it should be not far away from its own language and must be studied in it's own language context. And one of our most favorite definitions of Ethiopia comes from our own Poet Laureate. “The Ethiopia of rich history is the heart of Africa’s civilization,” he wrote. “She is the greatest example of Africa’s pride. Ethiopia means peace. The word ‘Ethiopia’ emanates from a connection of three old black Egyptian words, Et, Op and Bia, meaning truth and peace, up and upper, country and land. Et-Op-Bia is land of upper truth or land of higher peace.” Alkabulan means in my language እለቀቡላን a land that blessed humanitarian lives

It does. Go look up the etymologies of these words. And I'm sure the Greeks called them by this. So I believe the terminology of term derived from the Greeks. The Greeks didn't understand the Africa's culture as well as they wanted but they were fascinated by it.
