Yep---same thing happens around Thanksgiving when cooking a Turkey in a deep fryer. They fill the fryer with too much oil and don't use common sense to allow displacement of the Turkey in the oil and the oil flows over the top of the deep fryer bursts into flames and burns down the house. Insurance, good insurance, does cover stupidity. I know of a home that was a total loss due to a gas fire, on CHRISTMAS DAY. The pipes had froze, and they had no running water as a result. The home owner took a blow torch to it to thaw the pipes, but whoops, those weren’t water pipes. The company put a sign out in their yard. They wanted everyone to know who insured them. They wanted that good publicity, and probably got several new policies out of it. But also, it sounds like the family in the video were true victims who did not set off the fireworks, simply someone nearby, most likely a next door neighbor. Homeowners insurance will pay for their house, and possibly the contents. Car insurance, if full coverage, will cover the loss of car. Both companies will sue the daylights out of whoever was determined to have set them off, in order to recoup their losses, but there will still be things that simply will never be replaced and can never be replaced.

I grew up in the 70's with access to fireworks but my father followed the rules and we did not shoot of airborne rockets, bottle rockets or roman candles around homes or in the city limits because of threat to homes, families who don't want to hear the explosions and the damage to pets. Fireworks clearly set off unwanted fires and therefor endanger houses and businesses as you should have been able to figure out. In the 70's and 80's and maybe some of the 90's if a normal person/s shot off fireworks in the city in neighborhood they would be found or reported and fined or possibly arrested. That was then but now with the last few generations and the influx of people from foriegn countries with different upbringing, the age/time of lawlessness has taken hold and the police no longer control the cities. Also, to mention fireworks explosions, flashes and pops terrify pets and during the illegal fireworks usage many dogs and pets panic and escape out of yards to flee from the fireworks and get lost and killed. Likely mean nothing to you but not everything is just based on your desire and your freedom.

It's not just 4th of July anymore, it's the 3rd, 5th, 6th, New Years, and Christmas. Most cities have ordinances that don't allow fireworks within the limits, but people still fire them off and approach the issue as @TheMW2informer does, "who cares about anyone else and why there might actually be these ordinances, because I don't see an issue with it, it should be ok". I'm inside city limits where ordinances have been passed to prevent issues with fire and noise. There are some people that have true issues with the noises, and I am one of them, and it really sucks when there's no where to get away from it! NO WHERE! I used to deal with it 1 day a year, for a couple hours. It started last weekend and they were still going off on 7/6. They start days before the New Year and now Christmas is becoming a regular thing. I live in the center of city limits. I selected this house (paying more) because it is in the city limits and there is an ordinance against fireworks within the city limits. There is no such ordinance outside the city limits. I've done everything I can do to comply. How do I get my peace? We chose where we live. I purposely chose to live where I do, in the city limits. What about those that choose to destroy my peace by violating the ordinance.... "just for one day". By that thinking, I guess you'd be OK with everyone stealing or murdering, that wants to, because it's for their fun, for "men to have fun for just 1 day a year".
