I started playing at age 7 and my dad wanted me to play Chet so badly. Muriel is such a great player and teacher. I also love this lesson and thank TrueFire for this lesson. I thumb and finger picked for years but never exactly learned Merle or Chet's playing. It wasn't until after spine injury I started watching players teaching Merle Travis, Chet, Jerry Reed, Tommy Emmanuel, etc, and then KZbin recommended a Brooks Robertson video and I had found my newest favorite player and instructor. Discovered he had a couple TrueFire courses, got two of them... then joined all access. Then, after seeing Muriel doing this lesson, I watched more of her work. So while Im slowly getting some playing back-- again slowly because I don't want more nerve pain in my spine and muscle injuries in my fretting hand, I'm studying Travis, and Chet style picking from the start, from the get go, with a beginner's mind. Playing Robben Ford-esque jazz- blues chords, doing my regular finger picking, but also slowing it down to doing rote thumb/ finger pick patterns that, when sped up, will eventually lead to beautiful rhythm, lead, AND harmony; or rhythm harmony AND melody; I vox never quite do all three at once. Two, but not three (except Pipeline VERY SLOWLY AND CRUDELY as a 14 yr old trying to figure Travis picking out myself. Not the best tune to do that on). Anyway, Muriel is one heck of a find. Having read guitar mags from the 1970s through about 2012, it's amazing how many great female players I never heard of. Muriel is not only a great player, but another phenomenal instructor I never would have discovered without TrueFire. Thank you!

That lesson was worth looking at Truefire. I believe Muriel is a "Certified Gitar Player". That would make her one of five I believe? Impressive!

Muriel is great! She played a lot with Chet and other CGPs but she did not get the award herself. The 3 remaining ones today are Tommy Emmanuel, Steve Wariner and John Knowles :) The others were Marcel Dadi, Paul Yandell and Chet. So there were actually 6 as Paul was given the award after Chets passing by his family after which they decided to not give out anymore.
