Chester played to Kings and Queens around the world, sat in for a few Hank Sr recording sessions and the Carter family. He inspired Mark Knopler, Scotty Moore and George Harrison to ponder life as serious guitarist musicians. He's musical royalty who had seen and done it all. Credit.

On some his "live-to-tape" performances, he's actually playing lead guitar (only) to his pre-recorded rhythm and sometime also bass) guitar track(s). Other times, he had a live backing group. His leads are still brilliant, 2nd (in those days) only to Les Paul.

I taught myself his unique finger picking style when I was 13, and I've played that way ever since. There will never be another like him. On a side note, did anyone else notice Jackie Phelps sitting behind him with his custom guitar?
@packingten3 жыл бұрын
I had a Jackie Phelps album in the mid 70s Jackie was a great finger picker.I followed a f picker around 1969/71 It took me nearly 2 yrs to separate my fingers& thumb,I thought I was stupid but it's hard to do. I sorta changed worked on chord harmonies,Don't think I will be able to play much longer hands getting weak I'm 70 that thot kills me!.

Atkins played flamenco? hahahahahahahaha hahaha don't make me laugh!!! Atkins didn't even really understand flamenco, if he played a couple of tunes that's fine, but he just did NOT have what it takes to play flamenco. Flamenco is something that is on another level
@soloflightwest3 жыл бұрын
I think some people may have some misconceptions on what made Chet so admired and respected amongst musicians- I don’t believe he claimed to be a master of any style, he was a professional musician especially in the sense of studio / producer. Yes there are better players that perform flamenco as their primary style, what made Chet unique was his technical application to most any style needed, in studio or live performance. Chet obviously had no intentions of being a show off. There were plenty of show offs in the world of music already. Real musicians pay respect to Chet, you might need try to look from a different disposition he is a very valuable study for a musician.
@DUGGER19473 жыл бұрын
Chet did play flamenco. Not among the greatest of the flamenco guitarists, but was accomplished in the genre, nevertheless: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lXrde2WQYsasmKc and kzbin.info/www/bejne/eGmZn6lmgK-Mm5o
