If fire had an image, my brother, it would be you It hurts to admit but your words are true I never experienced it myself 'cause in Africa it's cool Everybody's black Everybody probably lacks the same things as you But we, warriors of one skin Will learn to bond with our kin Make a safer space for our non-existent offspring "Cause God forbid we have to answer when our phone rings Telling us our sons and daughters can no longer sing I'll be your brother from across the seas With open arms and a banner as I watch the horror scenes of America Undermining the dark skins Over little things The nature of your language Your aura or your flair Or your nappy hair So for a long time to come, Everytime you in your car cruising for fun You'll always have to worry if 5-O will mistake your comb for a gun.
