Maybe it's a 'guy' thing, but the 2004 C5 was also the last year for retractable headlights. Cool feature still!

Hopefully I will have a C5 soon. Always wanted one.

Leon the C5 you will just totally enjoy. You can find some very low mileage ones available for a very reasonable price. The 6-speed manual transmission is a real joy to drive and the handling characteristic is quite good. Although the interior is quite modest I choose performance as a priority. The C5 also was the last generation of retractable headlamps which I really like despite it not being so aero when they are up. The smooth lines and curves of the C5 IMO never gets old! Definitely get one of these babies... you will be glad you did!!!

tedvstudios If all goes well I will find a 01 or 02 automatic transmission with the performance auto. I wish to use it more of a daily driver. So if I find one I will be driving it to Daytona for the Rolex 24 race. Then I can park with the Corvette club infield and enjoy the race cheer on the C7R race teams. Always want to be apart of the Corvette community. Great people.

Why do I continue to hear claims that a C5 Corvette has a faster top-end speed than a C5 ZO6 Corvette when the Z06 has 405 horsepower and is almost 400 lb lighter!? The physics doesn't allow the LS1 Corvette to go faster than the LS6 Z06. And, don't talk to me about running out of gear because you don't know what the fuck you're talking about when people say that ¿`_

The glass on the standard coupe is more slippery than the abrupt hardtop glass (allegedly). Also, it's very possible gearing is part of the issue as the lowered Z06 gearing means it will top out in 5th below the speed it will top out in the base car. 6th is too tall for top end speed unless you have major power adders. Weight doesn't matter much at all for top speed, it's all power and aero. This is why you'll see super heavy Mercedes that will easily do high top speeds when the power/weight is worse than some lighter cars with lower top speeds.
@user-ys9to2ie7k Жыл бұрын
@@nunyabusiness896 No! You don't know what you're saying. Understanding the torque you have at the end of each gear in relationship to RPM, and including 5th gear, would require a power shift into sixth gear while maintaining the torque and you will increase speed, hence the top end will be greater. Understanding where it stops pulling in 5th gear is essential for the quick shift into 6th and no speed is lost, but if you dilly dally into sixth gear the speed and torque will be lost and you will not gain speed. The max. torque in a ZO6 starts at 4,000 RPMs and IF it will only pull to 5700 RPMs in 5th gear and with a lackadaisical shift into sixth you will drop below that torque. Now, what part of this don't you understand!? Check out: the Montana speed limit paradox. Today it is impossible to put a Z06 through its paces because the laws are far too strict and that is just sad ¿`_

@@user-ys9to2ie7k What you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

@@nunyabusiness896 I added the tidbit about no speed limits in Montana, and with that said, I haven't had a chance to take mine into Red Line in 5th gear. It pulls right to 6600 RPMs which is the rev limiter in 4th gear, and the way it pulled all the way to the maximum in fourth gear, I suspect, it might go to 6500 RPMs in 5th gear and if that's the case, I would power shift at 6300 RPMs and I'll guarantee it would continue pulling in sixth gear. Most of the time it's not what a car is capable of, but who is driving it ¿`_
