you just made my day of changing my brakes a lot easier. and you kept the video really short yet really informative. thank you so much for that as I hate long, boring videos where you waste 10 mins watching it before you realize it's not very informative

Thanks for posting this video! Very straight forward and easy to follow. Never realised it could be so simple. By doing it myself (in about 80 minutes) I saved more than $200 (Canadian). Two thumbs up! :)

Advice for everyone! was hoping just to change my brake but Caution my galiper was REALLY stuck!! The first was really easy to push... the second i broke my tool so i try with the biggest C clamp i found in the market and almost broke it too and nothing move! So i buy a new one finally 86 $! Be sure you have all strong tool! Some bolt can be VERY VERY HARD to move! And if you have to change your galiper don't forget liquid brake and read how to bleed your brake! Must be 2 person!

that's good advice for any jobs you do on a car, you must be ready to fight every bolt you try to remove cheers

Make it know that a new rotor is covered in oil and must use Brake Clean to clean it.
@mlkjml9 жыл бұрын
+robertrj222 yes you can definitely clean the new rotors with brake cleaner to remove the oil

What year Aveo is in this video? I still havent done mine yet. But I don't see you taking the 2 tiny Phillips screws out to remove the rotors. Yet in another video, of a 2006 Aveo Front pads replacement on here, they replace the rotors to, and that year,...which is mine, it HAS those tiny screws holding them on. But I dont see them in this video. When i go looking for replacement rotors for my 2006, (IF I get that much energy up and want to do it), I dont see the screw holes in any of the replacement rotors, that I can buy for my Aveo. Does it matter if they are there or not? I would HATE to pay for dealer cost replacement rotors, if I MUST have these 2 screws in the new rotors. I havent looked to see if mine has them,but since I have a 2006 model,and that video was for a 2006 and it has the 2 Phillips screws in the rotors, I assume I MUST have them.....right? So..what year is this Aveo? And does it matter about the Phillips screws being there, IF I replace my rotors? Thanks.

this is a 2006 aveo, as for the phillips screws it's not that big of a deal if you dont have them or replace them it's just to help keep the rotor in place while you work but at the end of the day the studs and the lug nuts keep the rotor in place hope this helps cheers

I replaced my pads today. I did the drivers side. (Due to 1 lug nut being cross threaded on EACH of my front wheels), it ruined the lug nuts and that bolts, it made it impossible to remove the passenger side tire. Tires Plus, where I have had ALL my tires installed and all my other tire/brake maintenance done. THEY crossed the threads on them. So I took it to them and they had to put in two new bolts and lug nuts...6hrs. today!!! BUT I got it for free, after they tried to tell me I did it! But you don't cross thread when you are taking OFF a lug nut. So THEY put on my passenger side pads, I TOLD them to do it, THEY ruined my day, so they owed me!! ANYWAY....I see in your video that the pad with the metal 'noise maker' on it, is on the OUTSIDE pad on your car. It was on the INSIDE pad on my drivers side. Whats up? Is this on different pads, from different makers? It took me like 30 mins. to figure out why I couldn't fit the new inside pad onto the drivers side, the pad with the 'noise clip', are NOT meant to fit either side. They are side specific, and my clip went on my drivers side on the INSIDE,....BUT yours is on the outside...whats up? Is it different from different makers? OR is your video of the passenger side? It looks like the drivers side. I bought top quality ceramic pads, and that clip is on the inside pad, drivers side. I assume that since 'Tires Plus' HAD to install my passenger side ones, IF I put the wrong pad on the drivers side, they would have to switch it BUT when I tried for 30 mins to install the pad with the 'noise clip' on it, and tried to put it on the outside, like you did, it would not go. It only fit on the inside, like a glove. Now I'm WORRIED it is screwed up! Is it? Sorry so long.

do not worry you did it right, the noise clip is only to tell you that your brake pads are worn if you make regular maintenance your brake pads should never get so thin that the noise clip start making noise, you should replace the pads before that, anyways the way your part was made was the only way it would fit then this is the way you should do this cheers

I want to change the PADS on my 2006 Aveo, first change ever, only 39K miles, but 13yrs old. What is the grease called that is put on the back of the pads? Does it keep them from squeaking? You dont spray everything down with brake cleaner, before you install the new pads? I know the slider pins need to be greased to be sure they slide easily. I dont have ANY torque wrenches, so, how do I know I have the bolts back on tight enough, but not to tight?
@mlkjml7 жыл бұрын
the grease that should be used is silicone grease/paste you can find some at your car part store or on amazon it should help to keep the brakes quiet, yes you can clean with brake cleaner the parts before installing definitely some on the rotors if you choose to put new ones on as they are oiled at the factory to keep them from rusting while in storing , as for torque for the slider pins it has to be tight but they are fairly small bolts so don't put all your weight on it or they will snap, maybe use two fingers on your wrench so you don't over tighten, good luck cheers

What are the torque specs for the caliper bolts and for the rotor ones as well I have a 2005 Chevy aveo
@mlkjml5 жыл бұрын
you can probably find the torque in the manual, I just torque them as tight as I can cheer
@fabianrudde13314 жыл бұрын
hm you didnt wiped of the oil which is standart on the brake rotors its some sort of anti rust but the pads dont like that stuff
@mlkjml4 жыл бұрын
yes that is definitely something you can do or you can spray brake cleaner on them cheers

Do you always need to push in the piston after each change??
@mlkjml6 жыл бұрын
yes, as the break pads wear down the piston come out further and further therefore if you put new brake pads you need to push the piston back in to make room for the larger brake pads cheers
