Why did a Japanese police force own an American car?
@boudewijnvanheldrus10 ай бұрын
It's something magnificently spectacular, Seeing a 1973 Chevrolet Caprice and two Chrysler LeBarons is simply crazy, and especially in Japanese lands as police vehicles, It is simply beautiful and majestic to see those vehicles in those conditions, currently it would be strange (occasionally speaking) to see them like that (well, in the case of my country, Mexico), but anyway, Great video. Greetings from Aguascalientes, Mexico!

Gracias por los maravillosos comentarios desde México! Estos tres coches son muy raros incluso para la policía japonesa.

The 1973 Chevrolet Caprice stands out from everything else, it's so big by comparison! Most American cars were big like that back then, but they aren't made like that anymore. My grandfather jokes that they don't even make parking spaces for those big cars to fit anymore.

Thank you for your wonderful comment! These three cars are very rare even for the Japanese police.
On an unrelated note, those police sidecar bikes look neat!

Its actually incredible how Japan did infact uses american cars for their fleet. I just really love the contrast between JDM fleet and then the Caprice proudly screams USDM with all of its glory.

There once was a time when Chevrolet was up there with Mercedes on the world stage. Specifically the Caprice as it was the highest level car Chevy made.

Even in United Status, police won't use Chrysler LeBaron, convertible or not, as duty vehicle.😅

I live in the US and you don't see them anymore, so it's gotta be even weirder seeing them in Japan.
to fair i wish Chrysler an chevy would continue to use body on frame on the cars cause they didn't cripple as bad as unibody cars an one car im wanting to get which is the last body on frame car is the ford crown vic
The Chrysler LeBarons are 1990 - 1992 models with the GTC package. I suspect they are European-spec versions, because the side mirrors look different from the US versions. They likely have the Mitsubishi-designed 3.0L V6, so they are Japanese at heart :)

That Caprice looks like a 1973 model, while the Toyota Crown looks like a 4th generation model from the same era (1971-74). Hard to tell which one of these two is the oldest. The Chrysler LeBaron convertibles are from a generation that was built between 1987 and 1992 so are much newer than the Caprice and Crown.

Those are very nice cars. I don't see how they are "police cars" though. It looks like they are cars a retired police officer owned and took to a car show and got a light put on for the show.

I don't have idea about KZbin and his algorythm to detect this video. Why? I knew about the Mustang Mach 1 of 1970 used to the Japanese Police, but a Caprice and a LeBaron as police cars in Japan... No comments.

Did they actually used them for patrols or are these the parade cars?
Re the caprice glad to see they haven’t deleted the white walls but somebody should give them a scrub.And fix the exhaust leak.Install the correct factory (at least) tail pipe (angle cut and didn’t hang so low- better yet put factory duals on it)The 73 was the last decent looking full size Chevy convertible…even with that ridiculous front bumper.No comment on the disposable Chrysler era “Imperial” Lebaron
