Hot damn, 1k views! Thanks for watching kings, seriously, I really appreciate it (even tho every KZbinr says that lol)! I'm probably gonna be doing an update video on the Cobalt soon. Good stuff to say about it, clearing up a few things about it, new information I've learned, as well as mods. But I also have reviews of other cars on my channel if ur into that. Thanks again :)

yours is sitting at 290whp because it has the 3bar map sensors (clearly seen at 1:19) thats why it makes those boost levels. stock is 15psi. Thats also why you see a 91 required under the hood(its supposed to be in the fuel door and replaces the other sticker. i worked at a gm dealer as a tech and installed alot of these GMS1 kits as they were called. nice review though!
@turbo_co275 жыл бұрын
Chris C holy shit, i had no clue it had the GM Stage 1. I got my car from a Nissan Dealership, and i guess the previous owner didnt mention it. I was actually planning on going that route anyway, so im pretty glad to find out it’s already been done. Thanks for the info man!

@@turbo_co27 yeah i seen your oil change sticker from a Nissan dealership and wondered why you took it there lol. Anyways id honestly leave it alone from here. I have the same car in my gurage right now except 2 door. It will be very reliable as it sits. BTW the ticking sound is your high pressure fuel pump.
@turbo_co275 жыл бұрын
Chris C oh shit makes sense that its the fuel pump, couldnt tell so thanks for that. I’m not planning on doing anything to it unless something needs replacing (im keeping the car for a long ass time). Might get around to bolt ons, but im not planning on putting out crazy numbers or anything. Generally keeping it as a fun car i can drive everyday :)

@@turbo_co27 Yessir. The previous owner had it sent off and rebuilt about 12k miles ago. Holds boost at 23psi all the way to redline. It does seem a bit laggier to me which I believe is a trade off of the bigger wheel. Also coming from a H/C LS2 I am used to immediate power.
@turbo_co274 жыл бұрын
@@ColonelMustard oh yeah these turbos already have large amounts of lag, but without the bigger wheel it's much harder to get to mid 300's. I think mine's at 300-320 but im not sure bc i didnt get the dyno readings when ZZP tuned it.

@drakebrunswick39685 жыл бұрын
As someone who owns an LNF cobalt, Ticking is the natural sound the Direct Injection fueling system sounds like. Tune will raise redline to whatever you like, generally 7000 rpm. Turbo runs out of steam around 6200 anyways tho. Never ever put 87 in your LNF. Yes shifting sucks, short throw will help. Your spoiler is aftermarket, that is not the OEM High Rise wing featured on the coupes. Two big things I think you missed: Amazing tuning potential, you can make about 340whp with just bolt ons and a tune on ethanol. And also no lift shift is an awesome feature you didn't mention. Overall good video!
@turbo_co275 жыл бұрын
Thanks man, I appreciate it! Getting mine tuned in a couple months by ZZP, hoping for around 320whp on 93 (bc we dont have E85 in Jersey yet), and I'll probably get that short throw if it'll make the shifting better. Although the wing actually does have a GMPN, and now matches the rest of the car after I got the a pillar fixed. I didn't mention the tuning much because I was getting conflicting information and didn't want to misinform people. Probably gonna do an update video on the car after getting it tuned, and maybe make a buyer's guide on Deltas bc I know hell of a lot more about this platform than I did 6 months ago lol
@drakebrunswick39685 жыл бұрын
@@turbo_co27 youre lucky for 93, i can only get 91 here and e85 in 30 miles away. I'm tuned by ZZP and love it. OTTP makes good shifters.

@@drakebrunswick3968 Word, I'll definitely get my hands on those - 5th gear always seems to be a fight. BTW, is an upper charge pipe worth the money?
@drakebrunswick39685 жыл бұрын
@@turbo_co27 ehhh... depends. No real performance gain... but, the stock upper pipe is very known to literally blow into pieces under higher boost levels from a tune. So in the long run, I would say its worth it for relaibility and it looks SO much better under the hood than the ugly stock one. I run a ZZP.

I’ve had many cobalts SS, turbo and supercharged. The shifters are very good but if maintained. The plastic components seem to wear out with high miles. Very easy to refresh them. And even half the time your shifter cables are just shot. Not too crazy to install.
@turbo_co272 ай бұрын
Yeah I can’t say I agree with my take on the shifter anymore lol, I’ve changed my mind on that after driving a bunch of stick cars. But I’ll keep my eye out for when it’s time to refresh them, and see about putting ZZP’s F35 spring in there.

I daily a stock 08' coupe. It isn't a perfect car but no car is. The trans is easy shifting not sure what you mean. I learned on my 98' ws6 t56 and that was pretty bad. It never liked shifting at high rpm at all. I took out a c6 with my other balt it might of had gms1 not sure. I got him in second nls into 3rd and pulled on him. He said "ahhh ya got me" lol :). I'm going to drive it until it breaks.
@turbo_co275 жыл бұрын
simonriddick I’ve heard that other LNF’s don’t feel as heavy with the clutch, so I may just have the GMPP one - the dealership didn’t know or tell me about the mods on it. Sick that you took out a C6 with it tho, bet he was punchin the air lol
@simonriddick5 жыл бұрын
@@turbo_co27 It was a auto convertible c6 so maybe a bit heavier. As soon as I heard his motor I boosted and you know second gear is the sweet spot. Into 3rd I held him off and pulled. He stayed back 2 cars lengths at the next light and I heard his passenger say "yeah the cobalts are fast" I said hey come up here and then he said "ahh ya got me" I said it happens no worries. That was my 09' balt and honestly I don't think it even had stage one. I didn't have the car that long. My 08' has given it to a few people too but obviously there are some fast cars out there now. 1st gear as you know is so horrible. I have some garbage tires on it right now too when it rains I might as well walk lol.
@simonriddick5 жыл бұрын
@@turbo_co27 Yeah I have no trouble shifting. Only time I ever missed is when I didn't know about the damn hump on the left and my floor matt was in the way and I wasn't putting the clutch all the way in. My T5 camaro was very easy to shift like super easy but it failed too at high rpm. Shift refusal. The balt 5 spd you can slam it into gear and it will go so I give it respect for that.
@turbo_co275 жыл бұрын
simonriddick I feel like theres a lot of spots in the shifter that feel awkward, like when shifting from 2nd to 3rd, its easy to hit the place inbetween 1st and 3rd. But that may just be mine, otherwise its quite nice
@turbo_co275 жыл бұрын
simonriddick Havent raced anyone before but I’ve had to outrun drunk drivers that try to cut you off on the highway, and it loses them pretty easily. I wish I had the LSD bc a 2nd gear pull just roasts the tires and it gets a tad hard to control lol
