Very bad change of the original suspension,cars must be restored as it was born,this is called "respect" with old times american engineering memory!
@detroitdiesel-vu3ig8 жыл бұрын
If you know anything about old cars, you would know they drove like shit. Modern cars are better in every aspect relating to driving.

Bruce Springsteen. If you know anything about music; you know Bruce Springsteen's music sounds like shit!
@jf84616 жыл бұрын
Bruce Springsteen: I grew up driving these "old cars" without any problems (of course you had to use more common sense, due to the vehicle's limitations). But one needs to ask oneself WHAT they would be using the car for? Cruising and parades maybe (original is fine)? Or racing slalom against modern cars?

Dang it. I just watch a beauty get destroyed in under 13 minutes. What a shame.

That's NOT a restoration, that's a rebuild. Restoration is when you keep everything exactly like it was when it came out the factory. Good car gone to waste with all these added mods.
@zoso19804 жыл бұрын
What a damn shame. A restomod. A waste of a good original complete car.
@nicholas7908 жыл бұрын
They had me going until they stuffed that big V8 in it! Then that tacky aftermarket steering wheel. I can understand the disc brakes for safety, but the rest is rubbish! "restore" means to return to original condition". They think they made it "awesome" but they really just destroyed a potential 10 point car. What a pity!
@gabrielsandoval49948 жыл бұрын
I run drum brakes on mine and they work just fine. No need for discs if your not driving too fast, also you have to brake before you would on a modern car. Another thing, that straight six was not correct for a 47, it looked like a 292 perhaps. Still, going V8 in one of these is not pretty, but, to each his own. I'm very happy with mine. Greetings.
@jf84616 жыл бұрын
I totally agree! If you start with a real basket-case, I can understand. But this car had a LOT of restoration potential!
@holtzman59436 жыл бұрын
I’d like to restore one of these and I’d put a big v8 in it. Not the steering wheel. There are a couple things I’d do that weren’t factory. It’s just what he wants🤷🏻♂️

I have a 1947 Chevy coupe, I want to drive it all over so that means power steering power breaks, maybe air ride for comfert but try to keep the original look to it as possible.
@justinturner75024 жыл бұрын
Well a steering wheel can house an airbag as to the brakes there are advantages to front disc and rear drum seating improvements can include improved seat belts the 57 chevey parts department for body can give you a whole body with improved glass as to things that work with it are things like an improved frame that includes impoved handling as well as a digigital stereo there are menes of making single speaker instalments work to a sterio sound as well likely the latest generation of factory fit model has wifi capabilities with the v-8 there is a standardized 12 volt electric system adapting to devices off the shelf led headlights that can be done of a retro fit as well as ...
@vanderhoof7418 жыл бұрын
I saw brake rotors and got concerned. Then the V8 came up and I shut it off.
@justinturner75024 жыл бұрын
There is an inline 5 that gm produces it has capabilities in disel too as to 12volt and brake meeting capabilities...

You took a nice old car and did that to it? OK, let me see, what is the ugliest colour we can put on it? You will never lose it in a parking lot although most people would likely want to. What a waste of a classic automobile.

That engine that came out of the car, the 6 cylinder is not rhe original motor. That is the 1963 onwards, someones changed it some time in its life they had a stovebolt six then from 1953 the blueflame motor.that motor in the car that i saw is chevrolets turbothrift motor that was manufactured between 1963 till 1988 and is almost identical to the Australian holden 6 motor wich the easiest way to identify the holden red motor has an external oil pump and chevs turbothrift has an internal oil pump and the block is a scaled up version our aussie red motor is basically chevs little brother. I would of restored that car back to factoty specs and tossed out the later 6 and put back the stovebolt motor. I was spewing when i saw that they were going to put that ls v8 in no way things like that can devalue the car . The only mod i would do to that car is put a disc break kit on the front to stop a little quicker.

The vid was almost unwatchable with the constant in and out of focus. Aside from that, and with my reservations about the term 'restoration', you made a good job of everything you did. It was a great car to start a real restoration on so I'm sorry to say thumbs down for the vid and a 'meh' for the restoration.

I appreciate the work involved. Don't understand all the negative comments. Restoration is fine for some people and cars but so is modifying for cars that are not rare and worth "restoring". His car, he can do what he wants. Just appreciate the labor. Those who criticise probably never did a build in their lifetime or maybe they just paid someone else to do it.

If I recall these were called a Sportsman, similar to the Chrysler Town and Country of the same era, I remember reading about all the different manufacturers doing same things but too long ago to put names to, Sportsman could've been the Ford version instead.
