The thing about the Avalanche ( 2002-2006-pre/AFM ) is that failure issues ,'cept the trans. , are all small ,cheap and easy for a DIY . Every vehicle , of all makes does have issues , some catastrofic . Given that , these trucks go , a long ,long time ,in comfort . Some of the most reliable on the road.

Only reason they stopped making them is because of sales. It was an identical copy of the Silverado except more luxurious. The only issues that isn’t common maintenance is the trans.

Don’t let the replacement of the power window regulated scare you. I watched a video on KZbin (many times to be sure) which allowed me enough knowledge to try doing it myself. Passenger side front and I was so proud of myself when done. Same feeling I got by replacing the windshield washer motor. Had to do it twice because the cheap o one I first installed failed in 35 days, no warranty……always, always use genuine ACDelco on you Avalanche.

I bought my 2003 used in 2014 for $12,000. Best truck I’ve ever owned even after 2 Brand New Dakota’s. The 1999 Dakota wore out in 2014 so not bad. After Midas ripped me off on a brake job I just wanted to be away from the truck. I was moving from Texas to Idaho so decided to trade her in on the Avalanche. Biggest issue so far was the instrument cluster. It went out because the soldering inside was faulty (common issue) Through research online and by KZbin I managed to find a very knowledgeable cat in Ontario Canada that refurbished the whole thing for under $200 and my mileage was saved etc…..great job he did. Even switched the white backlight bulbs to blue led which is awesome. The only thing that doesn’t work on her is the Rearview mirror thermometer and compass. Same issue with the solder I’m told. That one is more expensive to repair I understand, and problematic to remove and send away. So I can live without it. I do recently replace the front wheel bearing on recommendation from my mechanic. $600 or so. The other major headache on the 2003 is the faded cladding. After polishing it every summer with boiled linseed oil which lasts about 6 months, I’ve decided to paint the cladding myself this spring. It will be fun and rewarding to do it myself. The drivers seat heat element went out a couple of years ago. I have the replacement and will attempt that job soon too. No rush. In 2014 I did have to replace the water pump. That was OK because that entailed a cooling system flush and refresh so I was confident in her taking me North. Hope to smooth her ride out systematically as funds and time allow. Shocks, Struts, Springs , whatever else. Aside from the car wash scratches she still shines enough to get compliments.

These are all easy problems. I know a father/Son who both bought 2023 silverados. One recall lasted 3 weeks. The other sat up with a reall for 2 weeks. All in all the 3 week truck also sat an additional 2 weeks before getting a 24 model

I don’t care what they say about the Chevy avalanche it is fun to drive it is fun to own as long as you keep up with the maintenance and take care of those issues you should not have any further problems but it’s a great truck no doubt about it. God bless you my brother sisters repent if you have not done so yet Jesus Christ is coming back very soon so I say repent because when Jesus Christ gets here it will be too late to repent so I can see you in heaven. ✝️✝️✝️

Wear is the oil sensor located on 2004 Avalanche?

Well that's no wonder they quit making those trucks, they may be good and dependable but when they break they break. I have a 97 GMC Sierra 4.3 V6, it has $300,000 Mi on it and still runs great and the guy that I bought it from said he had it for years and it never gave him any problems just a little wear and tear from time to time like a normal vehicle

Just to add a major problem the rearend was replaced after 100,000 miles. Started roaring. On tear down the pinion gears ground up after bearing failure. Suffice any gas vehicle that hits 100,000 miles time to find something else especially if your arent a shade tree mechanic!

Those transmissions get rebuilt for like $1500, that's a DAMM good price to get it rebuilt and installed
