Yeah, it's thin! In 1980 my 75 C10 had 38,000 miles on it and rust holes big enough you could throw a cat thru! You are doing A GREAT JOB!

Once it is finished, no one will know it was shortened. Well done.

I wanted to wait but it could be awhile before I can cut the frame. Thank you!

I have done this on a 64 Ford pickup. Its a heck of job! But you can end up with a nice truck. Been fun watching you go that same route.

You could also leave the frame the same length and make a sweet extended cab short box...

Thanks 👍 It is a lot work but worth it. Not everybody understands why we do it.

Nice to see it coming to together nicely really well done and thought out. These type of projects are the best ones where you work at your own pace no crazy timelines or fancy shops with all the tools in the world. Good stuff keep up the great work and content.

Glad you enjoyed it! Yes. At my own pace. I easily get distracted with other projects. I will get this back on the road this summer.

Nice project and good work. The idea of treating the front of the bed like a reskin is great. Only real recommendation I have is to dial down the exposure contrast a bit or use a bright light filter on your camera. The video is a bit washed out. Great job otherwise and gave me good inspiration with my next C/20 long bed. 👍

I was a bodyman for about 15 years and when I was young I loved doing projects like this. You are doing a first class job with the work and the video too. I was thinking it might make sense to leave say 3/4"-1" of the bedside at the front where it wraps around to the bed end cap and cut your bedside an 1/8" shorter at the front to give you a factory end on the front of the bedside and make the bodywork part of the job easier. I enjoyed the video and thanks for sharing your projects with us. I'm curious as to what you should expect to pay for a long bed truck in this condition, in stock form? Your grandson is fortunate to have you for a grandfather and be willing to teach him skills he can use the rest of his life. Happy New Year!

If you search hard you can find running and driving trucks for under $3k But they sell fast.
