Chevy C65 Dump Truck 1985

Nate here just showing off one of my trucks this is a 1985 Chevy C65 this truck has 38,000 original miles on it, doesn't really get used much but it's there when I need it slowly restoring this truck had it for 3 years doesn't need much just some cosmetic stuff

I learned to operate a 2 speed axle 5 speed in a 1977 C65 with a 366 engine back in the summer of 1980 doing construction between school seasons, It was a beast.

What a gem! Started driving in '88 with C70's, 8.2 L Detroits with Allison automatics, good reliable trucks. Definitely on my list of favorites along with the IH S series with a DT466.

No turbo in the ones we had. Tandem axle trucks("6 wheelers ") had the turbo.

6 or 7....hahaha....nope. 5 is believable tho. They put huge tanks on them so that you wouldn't notice how much fuel they take. Outstanding truck for your area Nate!

Beautiful truck. I have a 78 c60. It has the 350 and a 2 speed rear. I grew up riding in 2 old chevys just like them. My grandmother and grandfather had them and he would clear land, haul dirt, stone, demolition. They bought one of them brand new in the 80s not sure what year. Wish I had them but they are long gone

That's a really great truck. I've owned a number of large 70s and 80s GM trucks and cars for that matter. Had a few with the 454 but never a 427. I love the look of the big square bodies. It's a beautiful kind of ugly. I bet you could get this truck with the 8.2 Fuel Sipper GM diesel but it would not still be on the road if it had that as no one has had the tools for it for a long time. Much better it has a gas engine in this case. Stick an old 5.9 Cummins in it when it needs a fresh engine.

That's a great truck! I have owned many of those. They are very tough trucks. I've had C70s and a C6000 and C7000 are great for landscaping and construction. I'd love to have another one someday. Great video

Great truck! Love these, i didn't need the dump, but i love the way they drive so i took one of my uncle's project c30s and welded an '87 suburban body on the back and we take it out to shows and tow projects back to the garage with it.

1991 was the last year of production! The 8.2L Detroit Diesel Allison Transmission is the best!

Yeah they're pretty much extinct and I actually just got rid of this truck back in April

@@natel2046 if I'm not mistaking I believe those only came in regular cabs unlike the newer generation ones which came in crew cabs too. I know the light duty models which are the smaller ones that have the same cab design as that C65 there came in crew cabs but wasn't sure about those medium duty models because I've never seen a crew cab one.

Nice truck , we had a 1975 C65 chev with the 427 , it use to burn out points . It was a tandem with a 5 & 4 transmission . The other truck we had and still have is a 50 series with a 350 and a straight 4 speed nice little farm truck and also a 1972 International with 47,000 miles

No reason to burn out points unless you leave the key on or you running to many volts to them

I have a c70 that I got back in 2020 and it is rough. That truck of yours looks great for its age. We call ours big John it is a white 1984 c70 with the 427 and 2 speed rear. Has a few leaks in the power steering brake assist. Nothing major.

I'm a small l owner operator/ contractor. My best friend runs 10 wheelers and a heavy haul set up. He does all my transport for me and hauling. Wanting to keep more in house i just bought a 85 Gmc 5yrd 454 gasser. It's not in as good cosmetic shape as urs but Is pretty clean and price was right. Mine needs carb and few other easy fixes. Cool to c I'm not the only one not to tainted by modern technology to run an old rig. I was wondering on tires and just assumed on milage. I do know one thing especially with the older equipment. They don't make em like they used to. That's why they say an oldie but a goodie. Lol

Just bought a 88 366 not as nice as yours but i hope to get it right over the next year or so. Thanks for sharing. So far i put a new aluminum radiator with electric fans and i think ill take the smog junk out and weld the header up.

The squarebody mediums were from 73 to 90 and the heavies the light duty trucks were 73 87 ck series 88 to 91 rv series

@@natel2046 I have an M929 6x6 dumper, (AM General) 855 Cummins, naturally aspirated. When I use it and really give it the "onion" (full speed) it only gets about 3 mpg also (it is diesel) It has an auto trans, that's one reason and it is underpowered also (my opinion) So what I am saying is: large equipment uses fuel, when you are working it.
