I see the C8 Corvette as a developing project rather than a standalone model. It's Chevy's first dive into a mid-engine "exotic" Corvette and I agree that there are a lot of design choices that don't fit with the Corvette DNA nor it's rivals' designs (for example the higher headlight position or black chevron piece over the vent). I see the next generation of Corvette being a huge step up in design after seeing the small details making big effects in the Z06/E-Ray models. Another brilliant video, Mr Bembli!!

Re: the position of headlight relative to the high point of wheel arc, I completely agree with you. Also hence why I love my s2000's design so much for so many years. If you look at Porsches, they are all like C8 too. Headlights sits higher than the top of wheel arc. I think that is done on purpose to have better practicality. If you look at the holly trinity sitting side by side, you will notice LaF has the longest nose overhang comparing to P1 and 918. I think that is what visually makes LaF (or all Ferraris) looking a bit sexier than other exotics. But trade off is more struggles to go through speed humps or climbing up ramps. So beauty or practicality? 🤷‍♂ Dilenmma. I personally think Ferrari chooses the long nose overhang because it is beautiful so practicality is sacrificed knowingly (however longer nose might also mean bigger frunk volume). Another thing I notice that is if you compare 488 Pista and F8. You would think 2 cars look very similar eh? But I think Pista's headlights sits a bit, just a tiny bit higher than F8's. F8 has a slighter longer nose than Pista. I can see it when I place both models on my desk. Hence why I personally like F8's look better.

You did it. I've always liked corvette. I love the new one. I'd get one if I could afford it. I just didn't ever like the headlight design. It just didn't sit right on the hood how they placed it. Didn't think stretching the front a few inches would make the issue go away. Great job.

The front end piece is also on the z06. It's just black on the z06. Maybe it's sensors and/or camera like you said.

The significant improvements I see in this new corvette are the reduction of very sharp lines/edges. if you look at the recent corvettes around 2020 and onwards, every design seems to have a lot of sharp edges. It makes the car look fragile and less aerodynamic. This new design is applying the principles of the classic designs of the corvette and other companies like mclaren and ferrari. Makes the car look more aerodynamic, fast and solid.

You should really give your input on the Supra E-100, its a modern variation of the mark IV Supra. Add your touches to it because some say it looks like a 3000 gt and eclipse, which I can see.

I think the C8 went from a homerun to a grand slam with the intro of the E Ray. There is really no way to not like what is going on with this car mechanically, design is subjective but it's a perfect drivers car.

My biggest issue is by putting the side vents in body color instead of black like the zo6, it increases the visual mass of the car. As for the front, again, same lines running across the front end in body color, so they look messy and distracting. Kinda like the weird basketball looking brackets the pre-facelift urus had on its front end that looked super strange. Just doesn't flow as well.

I think now that the Corvette has been accepted as a supercar, vs. a sports car , chevy will be a bit more drastic with the exotic-like styling when the C9 comes out. (Let’s hope that’ll be a thing) For the ZR1 they can’t drastically change the proportions. They’ve never done that and I’m sure it’ll stay that way.

I dont think the C8 can legally have a lower front end it has to meet crash requirements. The other exotics might meet different standards for a lower number of cars or something.

You were on to something good, but the end result was anti climatic. Not sure what happened, but the look didn't improve to the extent that I thought it would 🤔. You're on the right track, and Chevy should give heed. They need to mature their design by cleaning it up a bit.

This is my first time seeing the E-Ray. I would like to add that the rear vents' rectangular, body colored grills of the E-Ray are very outdated. They look fake, unsophisticated reminisce of American auto struggled time in the 80's. Cover them with wired black mesh would improve much.

The C8 is an engineering masterpiece. It is also a design disaster. Both are true. The ugliest car GM has produced since the Aztek. An insane combination of lines and angles and etchings. A chopped off nose. (Spot on that the nose needs to be moved forward and down). And a rear end that is literally a nightmare.The design is basically a brick with crazy lines etched into it. And then a bunch of aero doodads hung off it The E-Ray is a “ray:” of hope that GM can clean this thing up and make the C8’s design worthy of its engineering.
