Great video! My wife is borrowing her Dad's Malibu while her car is in the shop. The Malibu started leaking Transmission Fluid yesterday- I am hoping its just a gasket. This video makes me a lot more comfortable about inspecting and fixing it!

It is a customers malibu, and I repair it as needed. But will be posting any relevant videos as repairs occur. But its a fairly dependable vehicle and the only repeat problem it has had, is the front brake calipers go bad every 6 months or so. (Cheap aftermarkets customer buys). And the gas door fell off, I had to drill the 2 rivets out, and pull the fuel door assembly out. The pin that supports the door, had rusted into. So I replaced it with small nail, and reinstalled the assembly. Thanks for watching.

Put a little heat to the new gasket if it is slightly crimped or wrinkled before setting something on it to flatten it out

change my AT and was going to purchase dex 3. The guy at Oriely said dex6 was recommended. with the dex 6 i don't have the slipping and hard shifting problem. anyway it's only been a week. so far though i never had my car run so well. wish i can do te transmission flush. hoping this video would have shown it.

After running it for a week, just change the fluid again, and it will be flushed, as good as it gets. The idea of a flush is to just add and remove fluid until the old fluid is thinned down to where it is mostly new fluid in it. Is all. Short of removing trans and completely over-hauling it, and a new radiator, its fine with 2 changes. And cleaning any debris from the pan, will extend the next change interval. Thanks for watching.

My wife has an 06 Malibu Maxx, currently at about 180k miles. Back about 2019 the trans cooler line running under the radiator rusted through and leaked. Once I looked in the manual about what is required just to check the level, I realized I didn't have time to deal with it. So we had the local Chevrolet dealer fix it. That cooler line is a dealer only part. That is the craziest way to check the level. Does that fill port give you a straight enough shot into the trans pan that you could stick a flat piece of metal or wire rod into the fluid? In other words, could you make a short dip stick to use through that fill port?

That is lot of miles, anything could be happening. A fluid change is always a good place to start. Get the codes checked if any are present, and go from there. The maf sensor, In the air cleaner may be dirty. Thanks for watching

I don't think my '06 transmission fluid has never been checked or changed in its 104K miles. Only one previous owner, who left it at 100K. Sounds really rough when you go into drive after leaving park when you start the car (sometimes). Lately on hot days, which originally led me to think it was coolant issues that were fixed, it won't go above 30mph and not feel like it's changing gears. Front axle feels like it's rubbing on something, too.

There plenty of other possible causes. To start, if the check engine light is on, a code check is needed. If the trans is dry looking, typically the fluid level is fine, until it has a leak. And a common problem, is a stopped-up cat-converter, in the exhaust system, will slow it down. Plugged fuel filter, or a bad MAF sensor, or the air cleaner tube off. The MAF does regulate trans shift patterns. Thanks for watching.

@@Kyzersawsay I actually have seen on the Chevys, that if the cap, and vent valve are bad, that it will suck a dent in the tank, and this does cause a problem with fuel delivery. But, it doesn't happen immediately. If loosening the gas cap doesn't generate a woosh sound, and possibly a thump, then it isnt likely. A basic eval of the car is in order, to help keep minimize any damage that might be caused by the actual problem.

Great video, but I just ran into a question... I turned my car off before checking the level and when I pulled out the plug after adding 6.5 quarts, I had a gusher coming out of that plug! Does the car have to be running when you check the level?!?

Absolutely, the fluid level hole is calibrated to start draining excess fluid out, with fluid temperature at 102F --104 F, running, and vehicle level. The fill plug must be re-installed, before turning off engine, and before fluid temp exceeds the max limit set. Or the level will be incorrect. Thanks for watching.

@@AutoDrdiy it's a little rod connecting to a sensor in the trans, like up to the left facing my car, everybody knows how to change a filter dude, my car is the same as this car, the rod is literally 5 inch's away from the cap on the inside of the pan you don't even have to pull the drive shaft out to see it.

Kinda can't post it here I guess, anyways, it's right next to shift solonoid a and b the box looking solenoids.its a metal rod with a 90 degree bent end connecting to a plastic cylindrical what I assume is a pressure sensor. I've shoved the pressure sensor into the whole it was in by not watching while I was trying to get those solenoids out without taking the mini drive shaft out.

I have a 2008 Chevy Malibu also...it just hit 144 000 miles..NEVER messed with the trans fluid...once i hit 45 and up...my RPMS get stuck at 4... you think im low on trans fluid???

I would look for any trans-fluid leaks, making fluid show on under-body, or in parking space. If leaking fluid is found, then it could be low. It should be checked for codes, especially if check engine light is on, for relevant trans concerns. It wouldnt hurt to have the fluid changed, as a clogged filter, will generate the same problem you are having. Thanks for watching

Check to see if the transmission fluid lines cracked. I'm in the middle of replacing mine. Stopped at the stop sign and wouldn't accelerate went I hit the gas.

Can you be more specific? More details. Does it make a click sound, turn slow, when the key is turned? Not turn over? Are there any lights on or flashing? Is it really cold out, warm? Has it had a problem like this before? Was any work done on it recently? Does it have a remote start system? Do the headlights come on, and are bright? Battery cables look green? Old battery new battery? How many miles on it? Troubleshooting is all in the details.

@@AutoDrdiy bought it two days ago.181000 . Ran fine cranked fine. Now got into it this morning and its trying to turn over it just wont. Just continuea to try to crank without turning over. Headlights are bright they work fine. It ia very cold outside but my older 99 chevy lumina and my wifes 09 taurus crank up and run just fine. There is a check engine light on but cant check it till tomorrow morning i have a handheld scanner tool for my phone ill let you know the codes in the morni g maybe you might have an easy fix.
