Word of advice: don't go all out right away. Make a cheap, bare-bones setup, use it a few times, and see where you put things and want to set things. I have already made some changes from what is in this video, and I am finally happy with the side that houses the AC and power.

Fun fact hot air holds humidity, that's why when you fart in the shower it's so bad. 😂 That ac is a life saver. I love your set up guy!

@@JCDropshotVery nice setup indeed! Several questions, how much did your truck cost and what size engine was it again, , is your under bed storage slide out on rollers or (?), thanks.
@JCDropshot Жыл бұрын
@gregflores8959 truck prices have changed since bought mine so my price wouldn’t be relevant to today’s market. It’s is a 2022 Chevy Silverado, RST crew cab with the standard bed, which is nearly 7 feet long. The engine is a 3.0 Duramax diesel. The Underbed storage isn’t on any kind of track system. That’s for two reason, really not needed it slides wood on wood. The other reason is that the Silverado tailgate is not truly flat and level with the bed. It actually kicks up slightly. So having the extra play allows me to angle it and level it for cooking easier and also it is a massive cost saving and maximized the overall height of the drawer, and what I can store that way I was able to actually shrink the overall box height at the bed, sits on by a few inches and gave me more headroom, which is a big deal in truck builds

@JCDropshot - great build looks very well thought out; did you get any footage of the build or install? I would like to see more on how you’ve secured it all into the bed, I did notice the turnbuckles on the lower rear sides. Did you do the same thing up front? What about your mattress deck? I’m guessing you didn’t give up the storage space forward of the wheel well there.

@@JCDropshot yeah probably, I have the big single lid over the rail box, would prob make a couple of hidden dark boxes to hide tools. Real Issue is spending the money for the topper on a 175K mile truck.

@@JCDropshot yeah I like the 3.0, but looks like a wash as far as 3.0 vs 5.3 with fuel vs maint vs torque vs pulling. The biggest factor is paid for truck and boat! 😁

When I ran the numbers for my area I was $0.12 in favor of the 3.0 so times that by 30k that’s a nice saving.

question about the batwing...i see that you were able to open from the passenger side and not the driver side...i was told it would only work opening on the driver side to the passenger side when fully extended this is why i never bought it because my roof top tent open over the driver side door....is it something you can switch to make it open form the passenger side to the driver side like you did in your video? also how did you attach it to your rails?
@JCDropshot Жыл бұрын
You have to buy it for what ever side of the vehicle, it will be mounted on. It is attached to the rails using the mounting kit for the bars I have which are also Rhino Rack. If you go to Rhino Racks website it should have the option for mounting side when your selecting it on the website. Rhino Racks customers service was great when I was shopping and figuring things out for my build.

How are you powering your ac and laptop? Generator?
@JCDropshot11 ай бұрын
Currently, I have mainly run the AC off shore power when at campgrounds. My laptop is charged by the truck when I drive around during the day. Cooler is running off a Jackery and truck. I have plans for a power bank to run the AC and diesel heater in the future.
