Howdy! I'm really enjoying wrenching on this truck. What should we do next? Here's a link to my Amazon list of the parts used in this video... that Rust Converter spray is amazing... I highly recommend! www.amazon.com/shop/autoedits/list/29FURZA60A89N?ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_mixed_d

It's nice to see someone trying to improve the ride quality and use actual shocks. Most of the shocks, either lift or lowering "shocks" are dampeners and do absolutely nothing for ride quality. On the late 70's, with a 4" lift, you can use factory rear shocks on the front and factory rear from a mid to late 90's truck on the rear, you need to swap the top mounts on the shocks, but the ride is only about a thousand times better than using any brand of lift dampener

Everytime I see you work on this truck it motivates me to do some more work on my father-in-laws old 93 F150. I just put a Flowmaster 44 exhaust system on it, not a true duel but a dual outlet. It sounds so much better than stock!!

I really like how this truck is turning out. Those wheels look fantastic. And refreshing leaf springs makes such a huge difference. At least this has coils up front. The last ones I did was on a leaf spring Jeep, so had to do all four of them! I am surprised your OCD hasn't forced you to clean up that rear diff cover :P
@AutoEdits2 ай бұрын
Yikes... doing four at once would be a serious job! I'm saving the rear axle until I get all the parts for a full rebuild... all new seals and bearings, possibly a posi and a disc brake conversion. It's testing me though 😂

I ended up pulling one more leaf out today and it rides even nicer. So that middle leaf and the smallest leaf are gone and it feels great.

Reminded me, I need to get some 80 pound bags of sand to tone down my old dodge’s ride in back. Has new shocks and springs, just rides like a truck when empty.

I think cleaning the spring did most of the change to the back and you might need to put the spring you took out back later with the lift blocks. I guess we will see.

Newbie question here… how do you know which leaf to take out? As in, does it make a difference if you take off the 2nd leaf instead of the 3rd?
@AutoEdits2 ай бұрын
I just guessed. The larger leaves carry more weight and help locate the axle and the smaller ones are there for leverage.
@glenfdoss2 ай бұрын
Had the same thought. My guess is as long as you don’t take the one out with the mounting points that hold the bushings you should be ok

@@AutoEdits - Oh, darn, you really brought that Tahoe back to life and made it look good especially for its age. But that’s okay, life goes on. I enjoy these garage car repair/project videos a lot, dare I say even more than the wheeling videos. I find these videos interesting and informative, keep up the good work.

I had some financial trouble last December and sold it to a dude near the coast. He texted me a few weeks after picking it up that he took it wheeling/camping and it did great. Haven't heard since then and hope he's enjoying fixing up the interior and driving it. Sorry to disappoint, I feel like an awful youtube host when I have to shuffle cars like that. But it turns out I'm not just a poor youtuber... I'm not great at my day job either. So it's gonna be tough for a while.
