Check the serpentine belt see if its tight or loose or the tensioner before you do the pump
@RealNoor3 жыл бұрын
If you listen closer, the noise is not from the power steering pump or the reservoir. The noise is from one of you serpentine belt pulley or tensioner. More likely tensioner. It has a single bearing that probably dried out and failed.

I'm having the same problem with my Chevy traverse. The pressure line is not bad and I put some power steering fluid in there and it's still doing the same thing sir. I believe the power steering is still low because I check it with the car on and it was below the max

After you topped the pump off with fluid, did you turn the wheels all the way in both directions and then checked the fluid level again?

💯 that is the wrong fluid. These do not take power steering fluid. It's the wrong viscosity. That vehicle requires dex 6 transmission fluid

Hello, hey I have a 2012 Chevy Traverse LT trying to put the power steering pump on and I'm having the trouble that when I drop the subframe on the passenger side it's only going down two of the four in required to pull the power steering pump. Can you think of anything I could have done wrong?
@TerenceDIY2 жыл бұрын
Hi, It will be hard for me to say because I cannot see it. Are you checking to see if anything is stopping it from lowering? I wish I were there to help.

When I cleaned and installed new power steering fluid, it got much better for the few months that we were able to drive it. The Traverse eventually jumped timing (like all will do), and I got rid of it.

A fluid change / flush may help, but I won't be surprised if there are issues with that pump.
@frankie.b.s91332 жыл бұрын
I don't know if Terrance YT channel showed it but turning and hearing and enhanced whining could be the motor filter surprisingly it worked. But now my traverse whines when I accelerate. You can measure the sound by looking at the RPM gauge. I don't know if I need to flush and renew transmission fluid, or replace the water pump, I topped reservoir off with new antifreeze and it slowly leaked out. My gut is telling me something is loose on the water pump allowing coolant to leak out thus 4th making accelerating whining noise
@TerenceDIY2 жыл бұрын
If you're leaking coolant from the water pump, unfortunately the bearings have gone. The water pump has to be replaced. I've seen this many times.

@@TerenceDIY Hello! I have a 2011 traverse with the same noise and also the steering wheel is hard when turning it. do you have any idea what the problem is?
@TerenceDIY3 жыл бұрын
@@robertoflores1141 , you should drained or siphon the old power steering fluid out and replace it with some new fluid and a little lucas power steering fluid additive. The noise should slowly dissipate and your steering should improve some. If not, your pump is probably on the decline. Thanks for watching!
