We need more of this. No matter where we are, we should always keep in mind that the Chin-Kuki-Mizo are one. We've been suppressed long enough already. Spreading Love, Unity and bringing up the past to understand our root is what will make us thrive in a world where everyone wants to destroy anyone. And, we cannot survive if your brothers aren't as strong as you. We rise by lifting each other up. Great initiative by the PUC. I thanked the Principal, the faculty members, the Director, the script writers, the videographer, the students, and the whole team. Big up to everybody who played even the slightest role in making this Project successful. One love! One nation! One people! With love from your Kuki brother from Kanggui (Kangpokpi), Manipur.

I'm not 100% confident with these facts so if there is some misinformation please feel free to correct me and Since I'm from Lai/Pawi clan some of this may seem a little bias for some so i just want to say that i didn't mean to be bias it's just that this is what I've been told most of the time so i didn't mean any disrespect to the other clans. After all we are all Zohnahthlak. 1:04 Pawla - The Gatekeeper in Mizo folktales. In most folktales he guard a gate that led to another world/the afterlife called MITTHI KHUA (the village of the dead) and PIALRAL (paradise where warriors and nobles etc go after death) which is believed to be where we go after we died. 1:35 Aihniara - He is known as the fastest man among Mizo people in folktales/Story/Legends. 2:22 Dakcha lam - It is a traditional Vaiphei Clan (one of mizo clans) folk dance. It was performed by young men and women during various festive occasion especially during September and October. It was performed to celebrate the successful return of hunting expedition or it was performed at the time of harvest at the end of planting season. It symbolizes the joyous and festive spirit. 2:47 Sarlamkai - Another traditional dance of Mizo tribe originated from Lai Clan (one of mizo clans and probably the oldest mizo clan). In old days the enemies were usually held by victors and this dance was performed to ensure that the vanquished soul remains a slave to the victor even when the latter also dies. 3:21 Tualvungi leh Zawlpala - A lovers from one of the most famous Mizo folktales who met a tragic ending but later turned into butterflies and stay together forever. 3:47 Lalruanga - One of the greatest wizard in Mizo folktales.(my father used to told me and my siblings his story but i can't remember anymore, i should definitely check out again). 4:13 Tlanglam - This is one of the most performed dance by Cultural tropes today. It is performed in amost every occasions today and both men and women participate in this dance however i have no idea what particular occasions they performed this dance in the earlier days. 4:19 Tlingi leh Ngama - They are also the famous lovers from Mizo folktales. I don't know the exact stories but i think it goes something like Tlingi died from loneliness of missing her boyfriend Ngama, however Ngama later killed himself to be with her in the afterlife and they live happily ever after at the afterlife (PIALRAL). 4:36 Buhzaaih Cheraw - I don't particularly know about the 'Buhzaaih' part, i guess there are different forms of Cheraw and this is one of them. However Cheraw in particular is one of the oldest Mizo traditional dance. It is believed that the dance already exist in the 1st century A.D while the Mizos were still somewhere in the Yunan province in China before their migration into Chin hills in the 13th century. Some of the tribes living in South East Asia have similar dances in one form or the other with different names. However on March 12th, 2010 Mizoram set Guinness World Record for the largest bamboo dance in the world. Among Mizo tribe/people some says that Cheraw was first performed by Lai Clan (one of the mizo clans and probably the oldest mizo clan) community and later expand in different part of Mizo community although some may argue to that. In the ancients ages, Cheraw dance was performed with the hope of providing solace to soul of a deceased mother who had left her newborn child on earth. However today, this dance is performed in every big and small occasion of Mizoram. 5:01 Chhurbura - He's a fomous Character from one of the most famous Mizo folktales. He is known for his foolishness and surprisingly he's a really good tricksters but then again it maybe because most of the time he doesn't know that he tricks people at all since he believes himself that it was true. Anyway in todays world his name is usually used to call someone a fool and kids enjoy his story since it can be really funny. 5:20 Galngama - As I’m told from the comments Galngama was a Thadou warrior. 5:24 Rawkhatlak/Zialung Cheraw/Ramkalsiam - I guess this is another type of Cheraw but i have never seen this type before.(again please enlighten me if you know) 6:01 Khuallam - Khuallam literary means 'Dance of the Guests'. It is a dance usually performed in the ceremony called 'Khuangchawi'. The local myth of Mizo speaks of the fact that, to get a place in the paradise(PIALRAL). One has to achieve the title of 'Thangchhuah'. However in order to have this title one has to be either a Master hunter,Warrior or An excellent dancer. The various expressive feats that are performed by the people to achieve the title of 'Thangchhuah' forms the occasion of Khuangchawi in mizoram. 6:04 Samdala - The laziest man from Mizo folktales. He once slept under a tree and he was so hungry but he don't want to get up and pick the fruit from the tree so he just open his mouth and luckily a fruit from the tree fell inside his mouth but was too lazy to chew the fruit on his mouth but after a while he spend all his strength to chew it but then again he was too lazy to swallow it even though he was starving. So in today's world his name is usually used to call someone lazy. 6:37 Chheihlam - This is one of the most famous Mizo traditional dance. The dance form of Chheihlam is performed generally in the evening over a round of rice beer, Chheihlam dance form is practiced especially during the evenings, when the whole day's work is completed . Men and women usually sit in circle and sometimes there's a rice wine and bonfire at the middle. One can try this dance easily as it has no fixed choreography, it just imitated two birds that stay on the sky without moving and flirting, by both men and women on the dance floor. The dancer who is in the middle initiated the dance and will pull out who he/she wants from the circle and they will continue on pulling each other out on the dance floor while dancing and they will all dance together. The dance usually reflects the spirit of joy and excitement of the mizo people. 6:49 Vanchung nula te - They are one of the most famous character that appears in alot of Mizo folktales. The name 'Vanchung nula' literally means 'Damsel of the heaven/sky'. They are said to be very beautiful Celestial beings who sometimes come down to earth and fell in love with a brave and strong warriors. 7:28 Chawn lam - Chawn lam is the main dance of the Hmar clan (one of the mizo clans) . It was performed during a harvesting festival by both male and female.( i don't know much about this dance since I'm not from the Hmar clan). 7:45 Vahia - I think she's one of the greatest witch from Mizo folktales. 8:07 Solakia - This is basically same with Sarlamkai 2:47 . This is just Mara Clan (one of mizo clans) community version. In history the Mara Clan ask some Lai Clan Chief/King such as Hlawnchhing family and Chinzah family etc. to be a Chief/King in their land because they need a strong ruler to keep their land safe from the enemy and during that time the Lai Clan are known to be the strongest among the Mizo Clans...and when the Lai Clan Chief/King go to rule the Maraland they bought along some Lai Clan traditional dance and dress which result in some of our dance and dress almost similar and the Mara Clan having their own version of dance which originated in Lai Clan such as Solakia(Sarlamkai 2:47) 9:09 Chawnglaizawn - This is a popular fold dance of one of the Mizo tribe communities known as Lai Clan (one of mizo clans and probably the oldest mizo clan) . This dance is performed in two different occasions. (i) It is performed by a husband to mourn the death of his wife. The husband would be continuously performing this dance till he gets tired. Friends and relatives would relieve him and dance on his behalf. This signifies that they mourn with the bereaved. (ii) Chawnglaizawn' is performed on festivals and also to celebrate trophies brought home by successful hunters. On such occasions, it is performed in groups of large numbers. Boys and girls standing in rows dance to the beat of drums. Shawls are used to help the movement of the arms, which also adds color to the dance. Only drums are used in this dance. I agree with everything you said except the cheraw and oldest tribe part,as you have mentioned,Cheraw dance is one of the oldest traditional dance and I'm sure that there would be no Lai miphun,Lusei hnam or even Hmar hnam back in 1 A.D.Languages evolved over time and different groups started branching out from the main group and form their own set of clans,culture,rituals etc.Based on linguistics,it is not hard to comprehend that Lusei-Hmar-Lai group within the Chin-Mizo community separated not a very long time ago,if the name Lai was that old there would be some sort of cognated names among our different tribes.I hope you get what I'm trying to say.But,however it is fair to say that Lai dialects are very old And regarding the Buzaaih cheraw,yes it is a different from of Cheraw,Bualpui cheraw is also an even more complicated form of cheraw and Ramkalsiam cheraw is a fairly newly constructed different form of cheraw,along with the way they wear their traditional clothing and galngama is a Thadou warrior I guess(Judging from his name),I'm not well versed in Thadou history since they do not show up much in our oral history
@marsrae33 жыл бұрын
@@fiery3357 Yes...i get it...although what I’m trying to say is that...yes I don’t think there was no Lai or Lusei or Hmar back in 1 A.D but i do believe that the main clan that they were branching out from was Lai or at least the people that used Lai language although they may not be necessarily called Lai or Pawi at the time especially since Pawi was a name given by Lusei people as they misheard the Lai warriors called themselves Pawhte(Kei te) what i meant to say is that if we look back on how tribe like Lusei or Hmar have been formed they all come from Lai/Pawi as well as their language...and one thing we should know is that the Lai people also called themselves Chin and i guess all the Clans inside mizo tribe called themselves Chinlung chhuak....i hope you get what I’m trying to say. And about Cheraw the reason i specially said it was first performed by Pawi was that...I don’t go far way back before the separation between the mizo tribe I’m talking about a few years back...it is said that a woman from aizawl or lunglei ( or maybe from other place I’m not sure about this and i also forgot her name😁) come to one of Lai village called Cheural and when she was there they dance it and show it to her and at that time the name was not even Cheraw it was Rawkhathlak as Lai people called it and when she went back home she let them practice it in her village but she forgot the name of the dance and since the village where she saw the dance was called Cheural she just called it Cheraw. This is what I’m told in my clan...so maybe the other clan used to know this dance before the separation but somehow lost it through time after the separation and later found again as they saw the older clan dance it...which is why I specifically said the Pawi people were the first to perform among Mizo tribe not the one who invented it. Also thanks for the information about Cheraw and Galngama...I realised there’s a lot of things I haven’t know about my tribe...i should read and research more😁

@@7evenssolomona456 forget about Mary Kom, she doesn't know how to be grateful, inspite of not having very close relation with the Thadou kukis, we called bandhs so that the state government would recognise her, no one cared about her after she won her first World championship, we held a big function to celebrate her victory greet her at the airport and all. And after becoming really famous she turned her back on us.

Analh khop mei 👏👏👍 As we reach the digital era,there are high chances the younger generation forget about the stories of our forefathers,their deeds and their dresses,,but keeping the tradition, culture, dance,etc alive in the form of documentary such as this will be a treasure and in turn a teacher to the younger generation. Hats off to the organizers and all the participants. May this bring more unity to the CHIKIM(Chin-Kuki-Mizo) chate 🙏

One of the most complete cultural dances and cinematic video portraying the historical lives of the Mizo tribes one can ever ask for IN ONE VIDEO. Not only is it entertaining, but also very neatly done. The dances, music arrangements, sound mixing, videography and editings, the models, the costumes, the dancers, etc are all doing a marvelous job. You guys must've invested a lot in this video and have really nailed it! I'm pretty sure this will be a treasure to the Mizo people in the future. It is so dope that i have to search some error. Pawla's slingshot should be a traditional Mizo slingshot which is A bow type slingshot. Strong enough to shot down a monkey. it was widely used till 1960 -1970s. Another error, 1:34 Velah This word is a wrong tone of Veleh, mostly use by the younger generation.
