This is undoubtedly one of the most interesting KFG videos on wing chun and the most varied and randomly Dreyesque that I have seen. Always informative, fun and in a good mood. I appreciated the honest tribute and respect to Sifu Li xiaolong.

Yes, I noticed too. Too bad, they don't know what they're missing because the topics are always fascinating, a mix of knowledge, techniques and history from a "Western" point of view but a connoisseur with real experience to disentangle reality from fantasy. believe that Bruce would have appreciated the prism through which you approach the discipline in particular and Martial art in general. keep up the good work.

Breaking away in sticky hands is a feature in Goju Ryu Kakie. Also the sequence as taught in White Crane. Eagle Claw 108 set has sections that parallel the White Crane drill.

Thinking about it, I suspect that different variants could have evolved depending on purpose and emphasis of different mechanics. For instance, a version could have a deliberately limited set of responses and motions to allow for both parties to maintain awareness and alignment while developing coordination. While a different variant could be done freely with motions that go into clinch or takedown with more stand up wrestling mechanics done.

Merry Christmas Sifu Richter, I have a long question here so bear with me. So ive come to learn that the form that Leung Jan-Chan Wah Shun lineage taught was a one long form that had elements of the three first forms in it and thats what Yip Man would’ve learned early on but when he comes to Hong Kong he taught three separate forms. Ive been learning more about the Yuen Kay San lineage and it has been brought to my attention that Yip Man and him were good friends or at the very least real good acquaintances and it was Yuen Kay San who already had the three forms in his lineage Siu Nim Tau, Chum Kiu, Biu Jee etc. and taught them to Yip Man, he may also have shown him knife sets since he already had the double knife form as well(though apparently didnt learn a form so created a form out of the sets he learned). Do you think there maybe truth to any of that, did he learn the three forms and knife sets from Yuen Kay San?

Chances are that if Bruce Lee would have lived on he would probably at a certain point,after the success that followed "Enter The Dragon" and all the partying and use of his spoon around his neck,would probably have ended up in the Betty Ford Health Center. One can only speculate how it would have gone from bad to worse had it lasted longer past that point in 1973 where he already was and it wasn't good. However there are fighters who were approximately Bruce's size and weight class, that had long carreers. Manny Pacquaio and Benny Urquidez come to mind. Of course they were top notch in their sport. I don't know how long lesser gods fared in general but it could. Even in the bantam or welterweight classes

Sir, one could actually walk in to mak che kong's place in HK and request to be taught a very specific part of hung keun? Lets say, the hung keun pole or his knives? :) Or do you have to start as a toudai and learn the basics? :)

Fun episode today. Nice to see various Dres from multiple Alternate Timelines joining in. (Seems like my comment was deleted again after youtube crashed on me. Shall break it into parts then. ) I believe that community politics tend to occur more in larger organisations where divergent perspectives, contrasting agendas, and differing goals accumulate compared to the community environment within a small training group where the likelihood of trying to rise in an hierarchical structure to have a voice is not needed. Basically, the larger a group, the greater increase in conflicts occurring. So higher membership means more political issues. As for a central governing body, it might help with orderly standardisation and maintaining a visible hierarchical chart. But it would also cause attempts at enforcing restrictions, creating rigid labels and end up invoking bureaucracy, which suppresses creativity and limits evolution.
@talentbong7446
@talentbong7446 4 ай бұрын
On a separate note, I suspect that weapon forms tend to be collected by teachers along a lineage depending on what they encountered and / or what fits into their preferred method and can be reconstructed within the system. This can get accumulative or highly streamlined over time as different masters add and discard things. As for the concept of "Hard and Soft", I agree with Mak Shifu's paradigm of a spectrum and suspected that it applies to "External and Internal" and "Striking and grappling" as well. This perspective makes the world of martial arts feel a lot more diverse with the varying levels applying to different schools, systems and methods.
@talentbong7446
@talentbong7446 4 ай бұрын
With this concept in mind, a single style or school can have varying degrees of "Hard, Soft, External, Internal, etc" as different practitioners within it developed the art along their personality, preferences, levels of comprehension, environmental conditions or current trends. Then again, the contrasts in concepts are fun when you can compare "Hard Internal" styles like Uechi Ryu and Southern Mantis or "Soft External" styles like those nimble Filipino Weapon Arts.
