Wat Phra That Doi Suthep is the most famous and important temple in Chiang Mai. The temple is often referred to as "Doi Suthep" although this is actually the mountain's name.
The original gilded chedi is the most sacred area of the temple complex.
Pagodas, statues, bells, a museum, and shrines are on the ground.
There are several ways to drive up Doi Suthep to visit Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, e.g. by rental car, motorbike, or scooter.
Take a Songthaew: One of the most popular ways to get to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep is the many red Songthaews running through Chiang Mai's streets. They go from Huay Kaew Road near the zoo to the temple and cost 40 baht per person each way.
