Going to chiang mai in a few weeks on vacation. Any ideas on where to stay?

Hi Billy. It depends on the price range of course and the part of town you like. I can recommend the Away Chiang Mai Tha Pae Resort. It is a block from the Tha Pae gate on a quiet soi, breakfast in included (although it's vegan but still quite good if you can get over no eggs). A nice quiet pool, great staff and very nice rooms with big terraces. I think the daily rate is about $80, so on the high side for CM, but if you stay for more than 30 days with Trip.com it will be reduced 50% normally. I hope this helps.

You don't like the place we showed in the video? If you don't mind paying a lot, the Kantary Hills hotel has a nice big buffet and omelet bar. It is in Nimman. But I usually don't go out of breakfast, sorry. Most Thails eat the same things for breakfast as lunch and dinner. Maybe a viewer will add some suggestions.

A good and very popular restaurant, very nicely lit in the evening. Owned by a Thai/Westerner, (Dash), completely fluent in both English and Thai, and he often greets all the people at the entrance himself.

Yes, we are quite romantic I will admit. Re a discount, I can honestly tell you no, we never ask for a discount for any of the places that we talk about on our videos. We want to tell people about Chiang Mai and have more fun when they come here, and have fun making videos. So no deals for anything free. Hmm, but I'd love a free smoothie on a hot day. Haha, just kidding.

while i agree the food looked great, that is an expensive breakfast for chiang mai.....even though i lived in BK for many years, i never one went out for breakfast...just had my coffee and that was it...but it looks like all of thailand has become expensive and it is no longer the cheap place of 20 years ago...

There is still a great number of cheap options. If you watch our Living Costs video you will see plenty of delicious Thai food meals for about $1.50. But there are also these more expensive options.
