Saw many long-term foreign residents of Chiang Mai coming together with the Thais and making sandbags to place along buildings and such.

Got rescued from my apartment building last night in boats. 8.00 am thinking I'm stocked up with food and water, this will be nice to be at home a few days. 8.00 pm, climbing out of a window into a rescue boat. The joys of living in Thailand, but feel much more for those who've lost so much this year with the flooding.

Careful bro lot of unseen hazards in that kind of flood water. Bangkok 2011 was real flood. Spent a month in my appatment with an army trucks driving people to Tesco

I was about to write a warning to old mate Jon as well but saw ur comments here. I'm sure he realises the floods are good for cleaning the open sewage canals right under where everyone walks AND no matter about shoes being on or not...the soles of your feet are like tissues that absorb liquids straight through to the body...hence why they invented shoes and flip flops...to keep ur bloody feet out of the shite so to speak😂
@EddieSmith91720 сағат бұрын
@corefpvathome Yes, bacterial & electrical hazards are a very real threat in Thai floods. I remember some years about a young white woman lost both legs rescuing dogs from flood waters. That's just one story of many

Feeling for you, but you guys have been lucky thus far. Here in the Hat Yai area these floods are a yearly occurrence. We lost nearly all of our stuff, including cars and bikes, twice over the past 10 years due to the water reaching 2 meter levels. If you hate flooding, forget about moving to the far south.

I can see the Insurance Industry ramping up the premiums and so life will be so tough for everyone over there. Some may never be able to insure again.
@mrmartin207913 сағат бұрын
Insurance ( house etc ) is Not a thing in Thailand ,unfortunately Some farang do it ( as they would normally do in their home country ) but the vast majority of Thais have no insurance for house damage from flooding

What alot of people don’t realise is Thai people are very resilient, they don’t make a drama out of a crisis.

You can coat your legs in baby oil to form an impenetrable barrier against nasties in the water. Boots and what we call hip waders make mobility difficult. Survived a few major floods here in Texas. I'm very sympathetic for these impacted people. It's very difficult and challenging.

The big flood a few years ago, was it 2012 or 13?, the Mahidol bridge was flooded. The sewer system backs up to flood that area.

Something to consider as year upon year it seems to be getting worse everywhere weather wise. Hotter, wetter, Droughts in some areas, Volcanoes erupting, Quakes. Yes we have been noticing the last 3-4 years each year is getting worse. Good Luck! It is not too bad where we are in the mountains further north. Although a couple weeks ago it was flooded.
