CHIANG MAI to HUAYXAI to LUANG PRABANG - HOW WE CROSSED THE THAI-LAOS BORDER // [VLOG

After 8 months in Thailand, we’ve reached the border with Loas. We decided to spice up the journey with only land transportation.
We took a bus from Chiang Mai, to Chiang Khong a small city in Thailand right at the border, where we spent the night.
The morning after, we went through Laos immigration office where we got our visas on arrival and where we had the funniest encounter ever. I won’t spoil more than this.

How much you pay the main to the bus station? Is there anyway to avoid the scam?

Should have take the train. Regular train or EMU train from Nateuy to Luang Prabang are not full. Also, I hope you take the train from Luang Prabang to Vang Vieng. It' 1hour on EMU train and just over an hour on regular train.

I think you made a wrong choice by taking a bus in rain season. Plus laos road is quite bumpy. Train is the best solution

I wouldn’t get any transport from a guy at the Laos border, I’d go into the town and see what the slow boat situation was in case he was lying, which is a definite possibility. At least he put you off the speedboat, tourists have died on them!
