Interesting. Thanks for the info! 👍 I only shoot steel through AKs, so that’s good to know. Have you tried shooting the same ammo through other revolvers? I’m curious if it would stick in Smiths/Rugers, etc. as well.

I really liked this video. I see a lot of good videos on this specific revolver. And they are all great. Their all just missing one important fact. Your video included. All the videos I have watched so far, which are many, make it seem as if this is the first of its kind, as a matter of fact , a couple actually made that claim. And I don’t blame them. This is a super cool pistol and for the most part. The younger generation haven’t seen something like this. I’m not a super old dude I’m in my early 30’s. I guess some would call that old. And by younger generation I mean early 20’s to early 30’s. So what the hell am I talking about??!! Well, that would be the MATEBA AUTO-REVOLVER UNICA 6 that was invented by Emilio Ghisoni. The Unica 6 was a RECOIL Operated revolver that also happen to have the muzzle line up with the bottom cylinder. The inventor, Emilio Ghisoni, passed away in April 2008. And just months, the same year before he left us, he blessed the firearm community with the absolutely beautiful and amazing CHIAPPA RHINO!!😁😁🥰🥰 the man inherited his fathers business when he passed away. The business wasn’t firearm manufacturing or anything like that. In fact his father built bakery equipment. How ever, Emilio was interested in firearms. And the firearms community has benefited from it Immensely!! this is the one fact that every video I have seen leaves out. And it doesn’t make me mad or anything. I was just hoping that at least one would have mentioned the inventor and his accomplishments. And the obvious impact he’s had on the community. It just feels like we are doing the man a disservice, that’s all. Keep up the good work. I’m definitely subscribing to your channel and will be watching for new videos. Good work man.

This was my first pistol. I've loved Ghost in the Shell since, well, let's just say I was probably too young to have watched. But as soon as i saw the Rhino I just had to have it. I also went with the 50DS, I think it has the best proportions. But mine is an early model. The trigger is very heavy in DA, my sights don't have fiber optics, and my cylinder is not cut for moon clips. But everything else you said is spot on. I love the shooting clip because I always tell people shooting 38s with it is like shooting a pop gun. There is simply no recoil at all. But the high grip, while very comfortable, results in magnum rounds really beating your hand it. It slaps, literally lol. And I think that's the reason they didn't make it in 44. When I first got mine, I put 50 rounds through it, and by the end, my hand was red and tingly. I have to imagine that with full power 44mag, it would only take a cylinder or 2. They could maybe combat the felt recoil by making it out of steel and maybe having a ported barrel, but I think it would simply kick too hard for all but the folks who claim to enjoy 500 S&W lol. I would love to pick up a 20DS now as a conceal carry, but I think they are just too expensive now. Iirc, I got mine for under 800, but last time I saw one in person, it was like $1200

@nightwoodguns it's funny though, I got the Rhino because I figured a Mateba would always be out of reach. And then I happened to check gunbroker one day and there was one for sale, local, that was in a less than stellar state so it was cheap (as far as matebas go lol) so now I have both!

I just bought a 50DS a few weeks ago. I agree with nearly everything you said. Excellent lock up, very smooth trigger, and shoots very flat. I have a mixed opinion on how wide the trigger shoe is. Compared to my 3" Ruger, it is much easier to shoot. It's an amazing firearm.

Thanks, I appreciate your comment! 👍 I don’t blame most “gun”tubers though… we literally make no money from KZbin. It takes hours to shoot, edit, and upload a video all for pennies (if that even) because our content is “unsuitable to advertisers” The only way to make money is through sponsors or merch, and thats not even an option when KZbin isn’t showing our videos to anyone. It’s easy to get lazy when you are working for free 🤣 Your kind words mean a lot, though. Thanks for taking the time!

One of these days I’ll have one. Much like the Schofield top break revolvers, the Mateba Unica was a superior design that was left in the dust. It’s sad to think about “what could have been” if these cool designs had caught on.

That’s downright scary. Glad you retained your digits. There’s nothing wrong with the old cup-and-saucer grip for shooting revolvers. The only knock on that grip is in shooting autos, where the off hand is cupping a potential explosive duct, the mag well.

Is Chiappa rhino guns extinct or do exist in outside US market for purchase? Is it still manufactured?
@michaelgrubbs22053 жыл бұрын
Just traded in my S&W snubbie in on a Chiappa 200DS to serve as an alternate carry to my Staccato C2. I never enjoyed shooting even .38 out of a J frame so I would never take it to the range, but I suspect the Chiappa will be less tedious. You mentioned the cylinder blast on the Chiappa, but whenever I’d shoot my lightweight J frame I’d come home with a bloody thumb from the recoil/cylinder release.
@NightwoodGuns3 жыл бұрын
The Chiappa will offer a much more pleasant shooting experience, for sure. You will be very happy with it!
@michaelgrubbs22053 жыл бұрын
@@NightwoodGuns So right. Shot the 200DS for the first time at a training session today, and the difference was amazing. It’s heavier than a J-frame, but *much* easier and more enjoyable to shoot. Also, since I sold my CZ to get the Staccato, I have to get my hipster street cred from somewhere.

@@michaelgrubbs2205 I'm glad the 200DS was a sweet shooter, that's great to hear! And my CZ Shadow 2 is one of the guns I sold to get my Staccatos, so I'm in the same boat, haha!
