Newsie reminded me too much of Dave Lewis. He was an assistant turned head coach once Scottie bowman retired after the 2002 cup. Both Just lifeless, too quiet, always seemed lackadaisical.

I think Newsie was chill and steady, which I think is fine for some teams. But I think this group needs someone to hype them up to really get the going. It sounded like Perron did that for them to some extent last year, but when he was gone they lost something. But it’s cool to see Todd engaging with them during the game, and actively trying to make the game fun for them again. And it’s clearly paying off so far :)
