If you're ever in the area, I'd love to see you 2 visit one of Japan's Cat Islands! Probably Tashirojima since the people in Aoshima don't seem to like tourists too much. I mean...it looks like Kyde isn't too fond of cats but its certainly an experience to walk around in a place with a greater cat than human population :)

>18:50 Niemon-jima, I did not know about this island. Per wiki, this island has been owned by the same family which the current head of the family is probably the 38th generation. They always have the same name, father to the son, the name is Hirano Niemon. History say the first Kamakura Shogun, Minamoto Yoritomo stayed in Niemon's house for a while after the defeat of the war in 1180, and waited to regain his power. The house open to the public was build in 1704 after a huge tsunami destroyed his old home. The tsunami in 1703 also wiped out all the valuable historical documents. Current Niemon-san is trying to keep his island as it is and not installing any modern equipments and constructions in his island.

The bird with the motorcycle sounds like a grouse. It's a variety of bird with several different species and the males (during mating season) beat their chests with their wings rapidly to make a sort of rumbling noise that the ladies like. Some have air sacs in their chests too, but it depends on the species.

Hey Eric, I have a question for you. So I'm returning to Japan on a Working Holiday Visa (Canadian). My facial hair grows like a mofo. I have no problem shaving, but I was curious if you run into any troubles with your beard with any job/jobs you work at?
@kydeanderic9 жыл бұрын
SmilingWolfofBurnaby It really depends on the job, but with a beard you will look...well...different in public. I came to the conclusion that it really doesn't matter, nothing I can do to blend in, may as well give my razor a break. During your job search I'd strongly recommend shaving though -Eric

interwebs say "Maras are the fourth-largest rodent in the world, after capybaras, beavers, and porcupines" They're giant bunny-rats apparently. BTW, I used to live near a mall that had a small pond out by the front of it (I think it was just a little depression in the ground that was constantly filled with rainwater) and it was the home of a pair of wild albino nutria, another slightly large semi-aquatic rodent. (These guys were about as big as house cats.) I get very close to them a few times and really wanted to catch them. (Just for fun.) Later I found out that some people out in the bayou actually eat them and their meat is extremely lean and a great source of protein. Also, they're considered pests because they tend to destroy the areas they live in with their eating habits, so it's not like anyone would miss them.
