I did a seminar of his once. It was kinda terrifying! But great. His ukes had to ver very very good and even then there was always some risk. One thing I admired about him was that he apparently insisted his students do a 1-week zen retreat (sesshin) every year. Later I spent a few months at Shibata Sensei's dojo in Berkeley, a similar style, we also did sitting once a week. Also very demanding, but I loved it and learned a LOT. Not just technique but much more in terms of spirit. As someone who is by nature much more "soft", this was very good for me.

This training must have been demanding. I know the yudansha taking the ukemi will have had no choice other than to take the falls. Absolutely no fake Aiki!!
