I dont think that's a feeling that you can transmit with words or paper or even by watching videos of people doing it, you don't know what it feels like until you do it with your own hands. In my case I started doing it because I wanted to cover a wall that I don't like and I never thought I would get attached to those plants so much.

We had vertical walls on work, but it required a lot of maintenance, mainly due to very limited space for the plants to root in (meaning a LOT of watering / fertilizing)...Can't argue on the great looks though

I love this 💖 as I love my garden, it just came up on my YT and every plant I’m seeing grows here in tropical north Australia! Any other Oz gardening YT is not relevant for us as it’s not tropical 🌴 Great job!

Very nice, semi-tropical humid Florida US though so a lot of these epiphytic plants are going to grow nicely and also be relatively affordable. I'm embarking on doing a felt pocket living wall outside but it's going to have to go down to freezing and up to very dry and hot so I'm still hesitating on which species. I have a lot of these species shown on the walls but not sure if they're too much of a risk growing outside.

snokful I know you posted this a long time ago, but I also install these and wondered for your requirements, if you are interested in succulents at all? Succulents come in an array of shapes, colors, and hardiness. Many can take cold temps (desert lows, not snow) or you could also do perennials local to your area, that come back every year. Also the do make hard cassette style walls for indoor use, if you want a permanent green space.

The walls look amazing but what happens when the plants out grow those little pockets? Do you have to keep replacing plants with smaller ones?

richoz27 I can’t speak for the guy in the video, but I also install these for a living. Normally you use plants that don’t naturally get too large, however the plants roots actually love to grip onto the fabric and naturally spread throughout the system, anchoring the plant, allowing for growth, and better absorption of nutrients. I’ve seen plants like spider plants, grow pups right on top of the fabric and anchor themselves to the outside, you can’t even tell there was a planting structure to begin with, it look so natural.
