Wow what a beautiful guitar, I went with a chibson cherry burst standard LIP for my first chibby, wish I would have gotten a custom like yours, the bound headstock looks better than the extra long looking headstock on mine, plus the first fret marker rounds out the over all look, excellent build even better than an Epiphone.

I went with a standard cherry burst just to test first time buying on aliexpress, should of went with a custom , but I did just land a teal blue quilt top custom chibby LP recently,this time from temu totally satisfied with my chibsons ,I also own a black angus young sg with lightening bolt inlays my 2nd purchase and another great guitar,chibson blows away my other budget guitars,they deserve to wear that logo,no other budget brand comes as close to the real feel,weight,and sound then chibsons do,it’s why we buy budget LPs we are trying to experience what an LP or other guitar is like,without paying a hefty price,chibsons can definitely get you there,only paid $225 for cherry burst and the same price for the SG,my new off the shelf custom $252.

Now that's one of the best I've seen. I'm assuming you needed to level the frets & upgrade the hardware, electronics, tuners etc but I'd love to see how the finished article turned out. I bought one around a year & a half ago (a Slash AFD Les Paul Custom) & I got a good one. I paid extra for a one piece mahogany body & neck, a proper maple cap (not veneer) & an ebony fretboard. I upgraded everything, put a real Gibson bridge & tailpiece on it, Switchcraft poker switch, Kluzon Vintage tuners, 50's wiring kit with Sprague orange drop caps, CTS pots & Seymour Duncan 'Slash' APH-2S pups so I spent as much on the upgrades as I did on the guitar but that was always my intention. At the end of the day, I've got a fantastic playing, beautiful guitar for less than the cost of an Epiphone & trust me, it blows the socks off any Epi you could buy. I had no problems with British Customs either. I've seen your other 'unboxing' vids but this one is definitely my favourite so far.

Hi Ian, thank you for the compliments on the guitar and for watching. I agree this guitar is amazing in person and it is probably my 'new' favorite. My Jimmy Page 2 from Guitar Monopoly is still the winner though. It is heavier and has a super long sustain time with no amp. Yes I re-do the entire guitar just not to the extent you do. Wow those are impressive upgrades including your tuners. I'd love to see it. Do you have any videos? I'm actually purchasing Seymours for this custom as we speak. I use switchcraft hardware, CTS pots, orange drops and do a full set up on these minus the tuners. I am glad you understand how nice they are. You just cant describe it to people until they play one. Each one has one or two bad frets and I may do fretwork on these someday. I play with super low action so that doesn't help. I teach at School of Rock so I bring different guitars to work and the kids love it. I gig full time and use the Chartin 12 string for each show. Its holding up great considering we do outdoor shows in the summer in the extreme heat. It also plays very well with super low action. I'm glad your slash arrived without issues from customs. I heard about that from China Skeptic. Ill go look for any videos you may have. I wish there were more videos on here. I love the sound of people cutting the boxes open.

Cheers man, it's often a touchy subject, especially on here but although I understand to some degree why maybe some guys in the US with perhaps special connections to Gibson might get a bee in their bonnets, I feel most people hate on these Chinese copies to virtue signal & because they don't really know what they're talking about. Like yourself & WarmachineCan I have several guitars (though nothing like his collection lol), including a couple of real Gibsons & Fenders. I've got a Les Paul 56r with P90s (I love Gibson P90 pups) & an ES355, plus a US made '69 Strat. They're all fantastic guitars but after seeing some videos on here I thought it'd be a great project that wouldn't break the bank if I got a dud. The reality is these guitars are getting better each year & even though there'll probably always be a few bad ones & ones that get broken in transit, if you know what pitfalls to avoid & find a good seller who speaks English well, you can order yourself a great little project guitar at a very reasonable price. Plus, if the trademark stuff bothers you, you can always have something else written on the headstock. As long as you understand you'll have to pay extra for every upgrade & do a fair bit of work yourself, you'll never get a 'Gibson Killer' for less than $500 but you can get a guitar that'll beat an Epiphone hands down for less money & you have the pleasure of knowing you contributed a lot to the project. I saw your Jimmy Page No.2, lovely looking guitar man. It just so happens my better half bought me a set of Seymour Duncan 'Whole Lotta Humbuckers' for Xmas. Hmmm....I'm thinking they maybe need a new guitar to go in lol.

Being a huge Zepplin fan like yourself, I understand. Anna @Guitar monopoly made my Honeyburst #3 and the Jimmy Page 2. They no longer list LP's but they will make you one. The Honeyburst is a little thinner at the body, other than that they are nearly identical in build quality. The top on the HBurst is very nice, possibly a 4A. The vibe of the Jimmy is still way better for some reason. I have only had a few 'trolls' on here. I remove the comments if they are out of hand. Vintage Charvel and Jacksons are my favorite. I have a true San Dimas flying V '86 tiger stripe RR Jackson. I see many Epiphones at work. I couldn't agree more. Ive played many bad Epiphone LPs with painted bindings, raised humps at the 15th fret body join...etc. These are much better. They make you laugh when you hold one because they are so much better than expected. This isnt the 70s anymore when it comes to LP copies. As for other knock offs, I just don't think they have those figured out yet. Every Chickenbaker Bass Ive seen in person is horrible and I hear the Fender copies are not as good as the LPs. With that being said, I took a mirror to the inside my Chartin 12 acoustic. It was very clean inside with thin scalloped bracings. No funny sections of hacked up wood or anything. No Epoxy clear coat (like my Epiphone Hummingbird 12) on the bracings, and no glue residue. I was afraid to look at first!

Have you seen 10s Chibsons? Guitar of China Store is the name. 10s are the best Chibbys Ive ever seen. They do amazing relics. That is what I would get next if I do buy another one.

I've been really wary about getting an acoustic copy. I've always fancied a Martin or Taylor copy, or maybe a Gibson Dreadnought but I've seen some terrible efforts on here, (China Guitar Sceptic's Taylor for example) & I've got a lovely Washburn acoustic anyway which has really nice tone. Again, the Bass guitars always seem terrible too but I've been told the reason the LPs are the best copies is because many of them are made at some of the Epiphone factories behind Gibson's back (which actually makes a lot of sense seeing as all the hardware is Epi stuff too). I wasn't really gonna bother getting another 'cos I've got enough really & my better half is always moaning I've got too many lol. She constantly asks why I need so many guitars but she just doesn't get it bless her lol. However, after seeing your Honeytop & JP2 I've started watching a few other more recent copies & they definitely look to have improved quite significantly, plus like I said, those SD 'Whole Lotta' buckers need a home so I reckon I might start looking at what's available. Have you ever heard those pups before?

The last Gibson LP Custom I ordered was from from the custom shop in 2017 and arrived with a long list of issues, I sent it back, the replacement was even worse, I sent that back, the replacement that came was perfect except it was the wrong colour and model. I sent that back and got a refund, I will never buy a new Gibson guitar again. I am tempted to buy a Chibson and upgrade it with quality parts (NON GIBSON)

The top is gorgeous! I think you scored on this one. I got a Chibson Custom with a walnut finish and there were dark blotches near the binding that look awful. The guitar plays well and is setup, but the cosmetic issue is a problem for me.. What do you want for $250.00 bucks right?

Lower horn looks nice on that one. The last one i got has a super weird looking horn. I have a fake Fender Yngwie Malmsteen Strat that i just did a toxic lead paint test on and posted a video about it. It totally failed the test :(

Nice guitar! We all trick out our guitars anyway Gibson or not. Gibson headstocks vary as well shorter and wider in the 1970s & 1980s. Gibson colors are many different shades as well. I like the Poly finish because it is better. Nitro shrinks and cracks. I certainly hope we can continue to get nice guitars for cheap. I know the door is likely shutting and we all will have to bend over again when we want a guitar but while we can get some on the cheap! Yeah for us bad for the rich guitar companies. I do my own fret jobs and replace what needs to be done. I put on Stainless on one of my kit guitars from Stew Mac. WOW talk about never want to do that again! EVER More work leveling once I actually put them into place. I hope it will play great but not putting it together until next summer. We will see....

Hi William, the only thing is it has a couple of slightly 'off' frets which is common with most of these. They are slightly off on the sustain, but not buzzing so bad you cant play it. Like most it could use a pro leveling, crowning and polishing if you are picky about this. I would ask that they make sure all the frets play perfect. Let me know how it goes and do a video! I would still suggest the seller because of the pro spray fade and other features. It is a gorgeous guitar.

Cool, thanks for everything. Before I saw your video I had already pulled the trigger on a different seller (A BILLY Gibbons Iguana LP) and so far so good. They have been really responsive, once I got the time difference right and again because of your reference to the Custom headstock issue I was able to go back with them (and head it off before it was an issue they couldn't fix). Crossing fingers. They still have about 3 weeks. I'll do a video on that one for sure! Gonna order the Happy Lily tonight!

As a Gibson LP Custom Sunburst owner since 1972 and a Black Beauty owner since 2002, I can tell you that the guitar you have is Not an exact replica of a Gibson Custom. Firstly, the tuners do not have Plastic on the ends, the Diamond Emblem on the Headstock is too small and the Fretboard and Frets do not have Binding. I have also bought a number of Chibsons as replicas of my originals and I must say, they are quite good on finish and playability with a littel bit of "tweaking" The one you are showing is almost a replica of my 1971 Gibson Custom 😀

Exactly what I said when Gibson cut out all the small mom and pop music stores for the Guitar Centers by demanding high minimum purchases from the dealers. Only then, after spending a couple hundred G's on inventory per year are you allowed to sell 'Custom' shop guitars.

Ridiculous that someone thinks these are as good as Epiphone. Full time repairman here, I’ve come across at least 5 that were totally screwed. Bridge actually in the wrong place and couldn’t be intonated. You’d think that was impossible on a computer built guitar but true.

Yeah some were awful. I got lucky on all of mine having no issues other than crappy fret quality. I have also worked on guitars for many years. Ive seen real Les Pauls and Epi that were also horrible off the line.

34 years on the workbench. The Chinese are improving . Things are changing fast. Epiphone ain't all that. Their fretwork and binding isn't as good . Do the math swap parts and get a better Chinese guitar for alot less.

Yeah I totally agree. Mine wont hit the open market. Hate to admit they are not the usual piece of crap. They are made well. Epiphones arent any better and some have worse quality control. I'd go PRS SE 'used' as new instead that most stores close out.

Someone who is spending 2000 on guitar better know what their buying . It’s easy to tell a real LP from a fake If you can’t tell the difference buy swampland it’s cheaper. There are many great guitars made in china these days by the way. I’ve gigged with mid priced Ibanez , Jackson’s and Fenders (Indonesian) Wolfgang’s that work just fine with a little mod.. It amazes me how many people praise the quality of a Chibson and then bash the Quality of a real Gibson LP. I will just stick with the real Gibson Les Paul guitars....screw those fake wannabe guitars.
