Chicago 🌍 Blues musical genre, form of American Blues, was developed in Chicago, IL and St. Louis, MO in USA. The Blues music was developed alongside of 'great migration,' of African Americans in the first half of 20th century. Abundant usage of electric guitar 🎸 and harmonica with electronic effects make this music unique.
The blues was not born in Chicago, but it was here it found its voice 🗣️ and began to spread the message across the world 🗺️. Muddy Waters (1913-1983) and B.B. King (1925-2015) are considered by many to be the 'deans' of Chicago blues. Muddy Waters is hailed as the legend who built a bridge 🌉 between the softer acoustic 'Delta Blues' and electric Chicago blues.
The Queen 👑 of Chicago Blues, Koko Taylor (1928-2009) was a legendary Chicago singer whose style encompassed Chicago blues, electric blues, rhythm and blues and soul blues. I have listened to her live a couple of times just to 'get high 🤩.'
Chicago blues was heavily influenced by Mississippi bluesman who migrated to Chicago in the early 1940's and 1950's The early incubator for Chicago blues was the expansive ope-air market on Maxwell Street.
One of the most famous blues club ♣️ was Ruby Lee Gatewood's Tavern, known by patrons as the "Gates" during the 1930's. Visually every big name artist played there. Iconic South Side Blues Bar Lee's Unleaded Reopens after long hiatus in 2024.
Promotion of record ⏺️ companies like 'Paramount records, RCA Victor and Columbia Records' made Chicago blues music famous all over the world 🌍. Electrifying and energizing Chicago blues spread globally like a wild fie 🔥, by late 1950's and early 1960's⏰.
Muddy Waters (1913-1983,) Big Broonzy (1893-1958,) Willie Dixon (1915-1992.) Haulin' Wolf (1910-1976) and John Lee Hooker (1917-2001) together developed Chicago Blues.
Chicago blues directly influenced the development of early Rock-N-Roll musicians such as Chuck Berry (1926-2017,) and Bo Diddley (1928-2008) here in the U.S. It influenced "British Blues and early "Hard Rock" artists such as Eric Clapton (1954- ), The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin in U.K.
The Chicago blues Festival is held annually since 1984, in Grant Park on the shores of beautiful Lake Michigan in downtown Chicago. I have attended almost all of them. I have listened live to most of the famous living blues artists in Chicago, over and over over the decades. I am a Chicago Blues as well as world 🗺️ music connoisseur. My life is enriched by listening to these fine sounds since early childhood. Music 🎹 is the language of my soul.

That keeps the budding artist 👨‍🎨 in me to create more of these musical series on various world 🌎 musical genres, including American 🇺🇸 jazz music. America gave the world one art form to the entire world in the 20th century; that was Jazz music. The music that was born in New Orleans, LA, USA 🇺🇸 at the beginning of the 20th century spread across the globe like a wild fire through out the first half of 20th century. I just came back from listening to the live Chicago Blues Music Festival. It was thrilling. I have included many scenes from that. You been all over that park when you visited Chicago. We are now vacationing in far away St. Louis. You visited that famous Budweiser beer factory and the beautiful horses too back in 2012. Thank you.
