7:09...Danny Ainge nailed it (very underrated color guy in the booth BTW). The Bulls were historically great because of what MJ and Pippen did on the DEFENSIVE end. The Bulls could beat you scoring 85 points. MJ could go 6 of 20 in games and they would still win. That's his true separation from Kobe and LeBron...that ability to put teams in a VICE. Yeah, Pippen was amazing defensively too, but they took their cues from MJ. He was maniac when it came to competing. Guys just aren't wired that way anymore.

Unbelievable. They totally locked them down. Pippen, Harper, Jordan, Rodman and Buechler locked their guards down and didn't let them cross half court. You don't see full court pressure like this. No body could stop Shaq one on one, but if he can't get the ball, he can't hurt you and if he gets the ball with 10 seconds on shot clock, he can't kick it out to shooters, so your double teams are more effective.

At the half, the vibe at the United Center was skittish. Some of the other posts hit the nail right on the head. It was beautiful, intense defensive teamwork (as well as Jud Buschler's timely contributions) that sparked the team.Of course, MJ kicked it in during crunch and when the chants started "MVP, MVP..." toward the end of the game...phew..it was a goose bumps moment that really resonated deep down. that defense was awesome, magic were no scrubs on offense but chicago wouldn't let them get past half court. It's videos like this that make me remember how soft today's nba is. This is why lebron will never be in jordans world because even if mj isint making his shots he will single handedly lock down on d and force his teammates to join him. Lebron will wait for after the game and complain that Noone else is doing anything, not a knock on lebron but sorry he's not or will never will be in mj's world.

IND went on to sweep ORL in three games. 1995: Nick Anderson's four missed throw attempts that saw the Houston Rockets force overtime in Game 1 and won that game with Hakeem Olajuwon's tip late. HOU swept ORL in four straight. 1996: The Magic blowing an 18-point lead in Game 2. CHI swept ORL in four straight.

That bulls defense is what makes this team the best ever, pippen, jordan and Rodman were all defensive 1st team that yr, doesn't matter if the shots weren't falling, they'll clamp down with that full court press half court trap, everyone with at least a 7 foot wingspan on the perimeter, Longley and Harper were great defenders too, along with their deep bench led by kukoc, MJ retired because he was bored with winning, he needed that playoff loss in 95 for motivation

That Chicago defense was incredible, I couldn’t watch the rest of the game cause it was a school night, but when I turned it off, Orlando was leading 53-38 at the half, and when I woke up the next morning and checked the score on CNN , Chicago won by 5. I was so happy.

Young guys need to watch this video. This is what separates Jordan from all of the other superstars. He could always score, but in this game he and Pippen turned the game around defensively. I laugh today when people say someone is the best '2 way' player for playing offense and defense well. But to me that's what any start is supposed to do.

Anybody who wants to teach their kids how to play D just needs to show them the 2nd half of this game. Pip and MJ just DESTROYED the magic defensively. This is why Pip is one of the greatest ever - he was a floor general, always doing what was necessary.

Penny didn't have the ball in his hands much in the first place during the stretch the Magic fell apart. On some of the possessions it had to do w/keeping the ball away from him but he usually didn't bring the ball down the court often anyway when they went to the 3 guard lineup.

Thanks for posting this Great Game vid. At the time, this was viewed as the true NBA Championship matchup and the long awaited rematch. I was at this game, sec. 109 and saw Shaq tear it up in the first half after MJ rec'd the MVP. Bulls lose this game, they would lose home court and head to Orlando. Who knows what would have happened.

That Chicago press was stifling. They weren't as good at it as the first 3-peat team. But when they had to turn to it, well, you can see in this vid how lethal it was. Orlando just didn't have enough ballhandlers outside of Penny. The Bulls realized that and feasted on it.

In this game scottie had a bad game shooting but still had 10 rebounds and 9 assits and play excellent defense this what made him the player he was. in the 1996 playoffs scottie was playing a badly hurt ankle in it slow his scoring down but he still did the other things. scottie could impact the game in many other besides scoring.

To me this is an example of how the bulls might fair vs a potent offense like golden state. Orlando had a very talented back court, with prime Penny, anderson and Scott, and Shaq and Horace underneath and they best their ass so bad. Orlando had a ton of firepower and the 96 bulls humiliated them.

Both teams had similar systems where there was a lot of movement in their offense. The Magic were such a potent offensive team because Shaq and Penny constantly got doubled teamed in the low post which usually opened up the shooters. The Bulls weren't double teaming much which contained the shooters especially when Shaq was in the low post because he clogged the inside, so it's not exactly the same thing.

@hoovinc Kobe beat a team in the finals with 3 HOF with Allen, Garnett, and Pierce. And that was ALSO a payback from 2008. Another payback was the 2010 WCF when they beat Phoenix. It was a payback from the '06 and '07s 1st round matchups. 2004 was another payback year. The Lakers defeated the Spurs after they beat them the prior year. 2001 against the Spurs from 1999 was another example. So Kobe has Paybacks and proofs.

HOF coach can trust bench players to win or chasing the game when needed. Many coaches not learn from that. Phil used bit same strategy in this game with Jud and Kukoc. He used Hansen in 6th game against Blazers in final 1992. Even Phil used Steve Kerr against Utah game 6 1997 final which brings some discussion in time out. Coach affects a lot in the game. Great players without great coach still hard to compete to win Champions. This game is turning around made 4-0 sweep for Bulls if Orlando took this game could be different series. Bulls still have big confidence even with 15 points down only scores 38 points in 1 half. Now adays 38 points can be quater point 😮. Great defensive team Bulls 👍🔥

There are some valid reasons why the USA lost on the international stage. First of all, they didn't even send their best squad to the tournament. Partly, because some of the superstars decided to recover from the NBA season over the summer months. And then there's the arrogance that comes with constant domination over decades. The US team didn't take their opponents seriously and tried to win at idle speed, which reminds me a lot of the Brazilian soccer team during the World Cup 2006 in Germany.

@cornrow2 in 1995 pippen missed a couple games due to suspension for throwing a chair in the middle of the court. the bulls for the most part that year were barely over .500. Until March when MJ came back bulls went 14-3 after his return, before his return the bulls were fighting to make the playoffs, bulls finished in 4th place in the east. Pip needed MJ more than MJ needed pip

About the euro influences, to each of his own I guess. I don't care if the end results are in the low 80s or 70s as long as the game is competitive and fair officiated. No free throw parades. It's no coincidence that, with the increasing amount of international players, there's more and more flopping, acting and whining around the league.
