The great treasures of the financial district of Chicago. The beautiful architectural structures that awaits you. When you look up at the buildings, they appear to look down back at you smiling. 😊✨️♥️

😲 “ THIS area was clearly and indisputably ‘ The Wall Street of The Midwest ‘ , for decades, not just for the sheer number of giant financial institutions and related firms but the landmark business district’s majestic edifices and imposing scale that conveyed that status. ”

That was quite awhile ago. At one time, one of the country's largest banks, ( Continental), was on this street. It doesn't even exist anymore. Chicago's once robust banking industry was taken over by other bigger banks. Many law firms were once loncated on LaSalle St., but they too have decamped for greener pastures. The street is a mere shadow of its once powerful self. Hence calls for it's redesign as a residential corridor.

why is there less people compared to new york
@hyemuhyemu8221 Жыл бұрын
Sounds perfect! People want breathing room. Chicago is neither too crowded or empty like 99% of America. So that leaves you either with the uncomfortable dirty crowded ugly mess or beautiful Chicago. Chicago earns best big city in America 7 times in a row and thats one of the reasons. Its not uncomfortably crowded. Even studio apartments are cheap and roomy. Its clean, there's no trash piles stacked on corners, and there's alleys. It's perfect imo 👌

@@hyemuhyemu8221 then why arent people moving there to live ?
@hyemuhyemu8221 Жыл бұрын
There are more people than both cities in Karachi, Pakistan. It's still a 3rd world, dirty slum city. More people equals more trash and smells, especially without alleys. So your question is irrelevant. Quailty>Quantity

Could it be because Chicago barely crests 3 million as opposed to New York City's 8.7 million?
@LUIS-ox1bv Жыл бұрын
@@hyemuhyemu8221Nonsense. The city's population in 1960 was nearly approaching 4 million. It has barely reached 3 million for quite some time now, ( decades). Chicago, and Illinois, continues to lose population. While the city has much to offer, it has a longstanding tradition of civic corruption, and its taxes are relatively high. Property taxes and sales tax, are amongst the highest in the nation. The city continues to wrestle with a stratospheric rate of homicides. Much higher then NYC, and aggressive and extreme forms of theft, like automobiles ramming the entrance of Neiman Marcus,( my former place of employment)on Michigan Avenue, in a failed robbery attempt. The nation's perception of crime in Chicago is simply not just fanciful hearsay. The city has taken hits with the loss of Boeing, the world's largest aviation company, and Ken Griffin's Citadel, the nation's largest hedge fund company. Michigan Ave now has the highest number of vacancies anyone can remember. Vacancies simply didn't exist in my 30 years there. While the downtown area poses a pretty picture, behind the facade lurks many pressing problems and lingering issues.
