You might like to study the accents. Shaun has a really good Liverpool (Scouse) accent, but the self-harming lad (Nat?) had a different accent. ( Warrington?) In that part of the world, a few miles can make a lot of difference as to how people speak.

In the UK the accents surprisingly enough are based historically on the rivers. People living along the Thames, Mersey, Tyne, Trent, Severn etc form their accent along these river banks. So if you stray away from a river you'll see the accent change dramatically. Rivers fast flowing kept communities apart until the advent of crucial bridges.
