The mild sauce is not meant to be hot. More like a BBQ sauce. I’ve learned that most people who go to Harold’s like their chicken with the sauce on it. Get the sauce on the side next time so you can really taste the chicken. I recommend the Harold’s on 10259 south Halsted. Also tried their catfish. You can either get a whole catfish or fillet 👍🏾👍🏾hope this helps.

Harold’s chicken got popular years ago, when people used to smoke weed a lot and get the munchies Harold was the popular spot to go to for wings because the wings were cheap back in the day and they got hooked on the chicken with the sauce smother over french fries, that’s what they are known for for years you ordered it right, that’s how you get it at Harold’s chicken

I’m not from Chicago but I’ve been there and had Harold’s about 3-4 times and everytime I had it it was good you have to order your sauce in the side. Then you can really taste the chicken and add the sauce to your taste.

I'm from Chicago and still live here, honestly it depends on which Harold's you go to for the original taste of it and if I'm not mistaken the Westside is the best one nowadays, time has changed and so did the cook's lol everyone thinks the Southside has everything going for Chicago because of Oblock and 63rd but there's a lot more to Chicago than the Southside,downtown Gold Coast is where the best food is, Yoki try the Westside Harold's next time!
