Chicago really is the greatest city on earth! And Chicago really has two downtown's. The section south of the main branch of the river where the famous Loop is which holds the Financial and theater districts, Shopping, theaters and cultural places on State Street including the famous State Street Macy's store with it's Tiffany domes, atrium's, fountain and Walnut room. Then we have Jewelers Row, All the Metra Terminals that surround it over and under the city. All the CTA El trains and Subway lines converge there plus Millennium Park and the Museum Campus, Northerly Island and Soldier Field. Plus many of the world tallest towers and underground roadways. The Pedway. The River walk and outdoor art sculptures. And LaSalle Street known as the canyon due to all the buildings in the Finance District exchanges more money than any place in the world including Wall street. Plus the many different draw bridges. Then the section north of the River's main branch has Michigan Avenue (Magnificent Mile) worlds best shopping street plus Oak Street VERY exclusive shopping. The night life of Rush and Division Streets, River North Art District and Furniture districts, Restaurant Row/District and the Gold Coast plus more super tall towers every where. And Navy Pier! Plus more beautiful beaches and lakefronts on both parts of Downtown . Take a great boat tour on the river/lake or one of the cool bus tours. Go to Navy Pier or Millennium Park or to the observatory at either the Willis or Hancock towers. Go to one of the many world class museums or theaters or to Lincoln Park Zoo. Shop on the Magnificent Mile "Michigan Avenue"or Oak Street in the Gold Coast or State Street in the Loop or maybe Jewelers Row on Wabash in the Loop. Take an El train or Subway ride. Walk the River walk or along the Lake or hang out at one of the many beaches. Go to an art gallery in the River North Art District. I love great architecture so Chicago is perfect for that plus I love that is has many of the worlds tallest towers. And I love trains and Chicago has a huge mix of different kinds of trains all over! Best worlds best food, shopping, museums, parks, theaters, etc

If I'd known you could do this for $200 I'd have done it years ago, especially because I used to go right past that air-strip without knowing it's there. By the way, the air quality is seldom that bad over Chicago.

+Brandon Ayers , i lived in chicago 9 years , outside of downtown it's a ghetto the houston galleria district , allen parkway , river oaks , memorial , bunker hill , medical center , kirby , post oak , midtown , jersey village ETC looks a million times better & newer than chitown keep in mind houston land mass is now 700 sq miles & chicago is a small 230 sq miles houston has surpassed chicago in building developement & growth ,& will pass chicago population in 4 years

+bill gates I don't know what Chicago you lived in for nine years, but the whole city ISN'T a ghetto outside of Downtown. Granted some parts are sketchy, but I think it is unfair to characterize the city as a ghetto. I lived there for five years. In terms of square miles, it is somewhat misleading to say Houston is larger than Chicago. Both cities layouts are TOTALLY different. Houston is a unique situation because they don't have very many suburbs, that's why you are going to get a totally different land area than Chicago. Also, Houston is "newer" and developed much later than Chicago. Most of your cities which are east of the Mississippi don't have as much land area (including NYC), but they make up for it in population DENSITY. Which Houston doesn't have, it is just spread out. So technically, if you measure the Chicago metro area next to Houston's, Chicago would still be larger (in population density as well as square miles). I will admit Houston is growing, but it hasn't passed Chicago, not yet anyway. The way I see Houston passing Chicago in population is that if growth in Chicago stays stagnant (as well as the cost of living there rising) as well as more jobs moving to Houston.
