13:20 rare sight of mismatched married pair, a 3200 paired with a 2600, probably the only 2600 with led sign

I wish there was a webcam here full time! Amazing spot. Isn't this supposed to be one of the busiest railroad junctions in the United States? Excellent video!

I just noticed that you and Fan Railer filmed the same horn capture at the same time on the same day (0:05 on your video, 8:20 on their video) Were you two filming together by any chance?

At one particular area on a straight track (such as 5:36 and 6:50 and many more), all the trains passing are sparking excessively at the 3rd rail shoes. Something wrong with the 3rd rail there?? Love the video, thanks!!

I think the ice that was on it and scraping to remove it might have damaged the top surface of the rail

Sometimes could be the Current Collector height that causes it. Spring tension.

CTA uses the same gravity type third rail shoe the " L" has been using since 1892 there are no springs only hinges ,the only series to use sprung paddle type third rail shoes was some of the 1950 St Louis Car Co. 6000 series and the 1969 Budd Company 2200 series.

These trains are rubbish, been on them once and the rides awful, they are very rattly, the interior is very static, the third rails are also not looked after and the receptor too. The underground here in London is way better and much better quality trains here too. Also I've never seen any trains here throw that many sparks and that big too. Also just to add the Chicago L trains look awful to and are outdated compared to the London ones.

Both cities are different and if the Chicago L works well, why would they replace it? It's also a part of Chicago's history and a rather unique system. It's obviously old, but not outdated in my opinion; even if rides are a bit awful, it's part of the whole thing. Sparks are normal: the electric system is outside, so expose to cold/hot temperature, snow, rain, ice, etc... so the electric system suffers more than for the tube (I live in Bordeaux in France and our tram system has a ground power supply: it's not so old (2003-2004) but trams make sparks all the time also because of the friction between the third rail and the receptors)
