Greetings from Taipei, Taiwan. Our Brown Line of the Taipei Metro also uses the same car (VAL256).

The ATS at ORD is getting an upgrade once the rental car facility is completed sometime this year.
@mississippired67936 жыл бұрын
Big Boy, upgrade to what? It's still a fucking El. It ain't like Atlanta's airport, which has a subway-like system that takes you from gate to gate.
@trustysteeringwheeltray73925 жыл бұрын
@@mississippired6793 Originally the train ended at a parking lot. It was recently extended past Mannheim to the brand new rental car facility, so it will be longer than before. They're also replacing the entire old fleet of cars with new ones and redoing some of the stations and track, I believe.
@trustysteeringwheeltray73925 жыл бұрын
@@tkefan29 Correct, this system was very old and slow. I believe it was built in the 80's and hasn't been updated at all since. Hopefully the renovations make it more efficient.
@fxfr_5 жыл бұрын
The system was not very old. The VAL (vehicule automatique léger) is used at Toulouse and many other cities worldwide with the same system. They just changed (with the upgrade) the automatic pilot with the new CBTC system. Speed will be the same beacause of tracks (curves things like that)

@@trustysteeringwheeltray7392 I think the system is from the early 1990s. It's not THAT old.

Chicago O'Hare in Rosemont, IL closed the ATS stations because they're extending the ATS trains for this fall. It's good to have a underground and overground trains at airports to avoid getting stuck for an hour or more. Announcer: The train is leaving. Please hold on. Please stand clear of the doors! It is a CTA transit system that takes you from gate to gate. Not nearly as cool as ATL's airport, which is ATL exclusive, and subway-style
@trustysteeringwheeltray73925 жыл бұрын
This train doesn't go gate to gate, it goes terminal to terminal and soon to the rental car facility. Atlanta has two airport trains; one going to the terminals, and one inside the airport that goes to different concourses. Word is O'Hare will also get one that goes underground and through all the concourses too as part of the recent expansion/remodel.
@trustysteeringwheeltray73925 жыл бұрын
@@tkefan29 Yeah it would be. O'Hare has needed a train inside for decades now. It's a pain in the ass to walk all the way from one side of the airport to another. Let's just hope the city doesn't screw this up somehow.

@@trustysteeringwheeltray7392 Terminals 1, 2 and 3 are all connected. The only pain is getting to Terminal 5.

They NEED to get rid of that annoying "train arriving" beep and replace it with a single tone and an announcement. It's very slow and the car is a bit dated... Even a Mitsubishi Crystal Mover and other old systsms is better then this!
