This is ridiculous! There isn't anything special about Harold's, JJ's, or Baba's. Think about Harold's, if their chicken was that good Popeyes and KFC wouldn't do well in these areas. They're cheap hood spots for a reason that's prepared quick and made easy.

@living you have to try “Fingerz”. They are in snellville. Wayyyy better than Portillo’s. I’m from Chicago as well. I live in Lawrenceville. Mr. Chimetime went there and now they have blown up. Closed on Sunday and Monday. But worth it and wayyy better than Portillo’s. Thank me later hun!

Born and raised in Chicago and Portillos IS very good. The thing is they are more like the McDonalds of Italian beef and hot dogs in Chicago and nation wide. Thats not throwing shade they are just the most well known with a lot of locations. There are so many other places that do it so much better like I have been reading in the comments. I now live in Baton Rouge and i would kill for a Portillos down here

As i native Chicagoan, i actually dont care for Portillos Italian beef. Admittedly, i've only had it from the one in Merrillville, IN. They dont dip it. But the one you went to provided the juice, so you were good. The best ones to me are the ones in the corner/walk in restaurants. Nowadays i make em myself at home.
